I'm Lori and turned 30 a few months ago.  Sigh.  I'm an attorney for the State of Tennessee, and I love it!  I prosecute narcotics and DUI asset forfeiture cases.  I love working with law enforcement, I love hearings stupid criminal stories everyday, and most of all I love feeling like I'm doing something worthwhile.  I've been dating a wonderful guy for the last year.  No children, except for my cat, Zoe Elizabeth...who is way better than any kid  (-:

For the most part, all is right with my life....except my weight.  Like a lot of people here, I was overweight even as a young child.  In fact, I remember being maybe 8 or so and developing a method for sneaking food.  Rather than take a lot of one thing, I'd take just a little bit of each thing, so as to avoid detection.  I also perfected the art of getting into the pantry without anyone seeing me from the living room.  And the "Gee-I-Have-No-Idea-Where-The-Cake-Mix-went" look....had it down to a tee .

At 16, I finally went on a starvation diet, basically, and lost about 80 lbs.  That was my first weight loss...and the beginning of what's been a back and forth.  My weight history, best as I can remember, goes like this:

16 years old - lost from 226 to 150 (diet and exercise).
16 - 21 yrs old - maintained around 150, give or take
22 yrs old - gained up to 185, then lost back to 150 (deting and took up running)
23 yrs old - gained up to 175 while studying for the bar, then lost to 150 (dieting and running again)
24 yrs old - became bulimic to try to get even lower...ended up gaining a TON of weight.  I binged so much, I never got rid of all of it when I threw up....so I still gained in spite of the vomiting.
25 yrs old - had gained up to 250, lost down to 200 (dieting, phentermine, exercise)
28 - 30  yrs old - binged and purged my way to my heighest weight, 326

In between all of that, there were lots of 10-15 lb flucuations....way too many to remember.  In addition to the dieting and exercising, I've also tried the following drugs:

1. phentermine - worked great, then stopped
2. tenuate - nada
3. topamax - no effect on appetite, awful side effects
4. byetta injections - lost about 15 lbs, then it stopped working, plus the side effects were pretty bad
5. wellbutrin - nada
6. xenical - didn't lose any weight to speak of
7. rimonabant (accomplia) - Not available yet in the US, so I ordered it from Aventis in Europe...had no effect on my appetite whatsoever

At this point in my life, I feel like I've exhausted my other options and that wls is what I need to do.  I'm so miserable at this weight.  Not only do I look hideously huge, I'm so uncomfortable.  I get seriously out of breath just walking up the stairs to my bedroom.  I can't walk for more than a few minutes wiithout my back killing me....and too many other things to list.

So, here I am....
