I am a 34 year old stay at home Mom of two beautiful babies. I have battled with weight issues since I was very young and like everyone else tried everything under the sun to get the weight off. Being adopted I was always unsure of my family history.
At age 21I was blessed to have my birth mother contact me before her death to inform me of any medical complications. She died at age 42 of a massive heart attack. She had a whole other group of illnesses including Leukemia. I tried several things after that to try and stop this never ending battle with my weight and was unsuccessful each time. It wasn't until my second child was born that I started getting severe back pain and joint pain accompanied by very bad acid reflux. Enough was enough and I looked into weight loss surgery. Not only did I do alot of research on the various types, but I took a hard look at what issues I faced and what kind of eater I ultimately was. I decided that RNY was the best option for me. Per my insurance, I did the 3 month protocol of a doctor supervised program. My paperwork was submitted for approval on May 23rd, 2008 and I was approved on June 6th, 2008. I couldn't believe the relief and joy I felt knowing that soon I would get to start my life over and become the person I always knew was inside of me!
