Linda W.
I started my journey toward weight loss surgery in May 2009. I was a diabetic on insulin, had sleep apnea and high blood pressure. In order for insurance to approve me, I had to go through 6 months of a supervised weight loss program and 6 visits to a phychologist. I was approved in January 2010 and had my surgery on 2/1/2010 in Rome, Ga. by Dr. Ryland Scott. I took my last insulin shot on the 2nd day after surgery and reduced my blood pressure medication over the next few months as I lost weight. I have a good friend that supported me through this time, who is a member of the lightweights and I have been reading the post on OH during all this time and felt like it was past time to participate. I feel like I already know many of you. Since there is no support group in our area this has been a tremendous help to me.
I am married and have 1 daughter and 5 grandaughters. My family has been supportive to me all the way. I could not ask for any more support than what I have received from them.
I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer June 23, 2010 and am recovering from surgery now. Praise the Lord, it was stage 1 and I will not have Chemo or radiation.
