2 Years!

Jul 02, 2010

Wow, I cannot believe that it's been two years since my surgery.  So many changes in my life.  I started this journey weighing 244.  I was wearing a 3 or 4X.  Today I weigh 149 and am wearing a small or medium top and 4, 5 or 6 size pants.  Unbelievable!  People that knew me before I gained all the weight recognize me again, whereupons people that didn't know me thin, do a double take and then freak when they realize it is me.  It feels so awesome to be myself again.  I no longer take any medications for blood pressure (104/75), cholesteral, and am no longer considered a diabetic.  I've been plateaued at this weight for ever!  It's gotta be because I stopped walking the 7 daily miles back in November, and since it hasn't really gotten warm until recently, that I hadn't started walking again.  My walking partner moved away, which is why I stopped walking.  However, that all changed on the 25th of June.  Since that day, I have been walking at least 3 miles a day whether I have someone to walk with or not.  I realize that I actually love to walk and didn't realize how much I missed the fresh air.  As I am typing this, I am thinking to myself. ..... who is this person, and what have you done with Magdalena?  No, seriously I  feel great, and I know that I look great.  Went for a job interview last week never dreaming that I would get the job and I did.  Life is so good.  Am currently on summer break, so will start my new position on August 2nd, which is one week before school starts up again.  Am really looking forward to going back to work and hopefully being at least 10 lbs. lighter.  Also, have been doing salsa lessons on Thursday nights.  Not only is it a lot of fun, it's a total workout.  I leave looking like a drowned rat.  Having this surgery was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life!

Two weeks post op!

Jul 13, 2008

Tomorrow it is 2 weeks since I had surgery.  My how time has flown!  Still have the staples, very uncomfortable, however, they seem to healing, just uncomfortable.  I feel great!  I have been walking non-stop since my surgery.  I try to walk in the mornings and in the evenings.  At first I was worried because I had gained 6 lbs in the hospital and it seemed like it wasn't coming off, however, today, I weighed in at 214, so I've lost 10 lbs in 13 days!  Very excited!
