"I did not see the surgeon until the following day. I was a bit blown away that I was sedated before I had the opportunity to know the correct surgeon was working on me and knew what he was doing. After the fact, it was obvious when he showed up in my room the next day. Surgery began at 7:30 according to Dr Spier and took approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes. I was in recovery and then wheeled to my room at about noon. (I was unaware of all this). I woke up in my room at about 4 in the afternoon. My daughter-in-law was appalled that no one came into the room to check up on me in 4 hours. I reacted to the anthesia and so they kept an anti nausea medicine in me in addition to the pain meds which made me sleep all the time. Dr. Spier indicated that I was to get out of bed the next day but there was no one there to remind me of that or to help. The first day there was food brought to my room in regular portions ( I didn't eat any because of the nausea) but all the food remained in there the entire day until the next day when I asked them to take it away. In any case there was no guidance on how much I was suppose to consume. The entire stay the only thing I had aside from the IV was 3 sips of cranberry juice. I got the feeling I was being sedated to keep me quiet so I wouldn't have any needs. Dr Spier asked if I was ready to go home I was on it. The nurse acted as though I was putting her out to prepare me for discharge. Her paperwork was incomplete and kept referring to other paperwork that according to Dr Spier was not to be handed out. She did not prepare me for what to expect when I was at home. She finally said I was ready to go home - yet she neglected to take out my central and when she saw it she acted as thought she had no clue what to do with it. This hospital reminded me of a what a prison hospital must look like. Barren walls, equipment in the hallways and nurses that gave less than adequate care. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone."
