10 Days Out

Oct 08, 2016

Can't believe that it has been 10 days already since receiving my revision. Wounds are almost all healed. The urge to scratch was immense but tried my best to hold off.

I haven't really had time to sit and recuperate as my daughter, who was suppose to assist me, came down with mono. That was an ordeal in itself. Two hospitals in two days. First one said "take Tylenol and get rest". If any symptoms get worse, come back" poor kid, overnight she started throwing up and was in immense pain on her left side, as the Tylenol just wasn't doing it.

Next day, back to the hospital, except we went to the childrens hospital, as technically she is still a child. Waited two hours less, doc gave her a prescription for anti-nausea meds and a pain med and told her to take ibuprofen in between to ease the swelling in her throat and spleen, as the spleen is a major cocern if you have mono. Because now she started to get rest and was able to hold down food, she was on the mend quite quickly. Being a virus, no antibiotics were to be given. She of course will be tired for a long while yet but she will get better.

So now, back to me ha ha  Drinking smoothies now (with fresh fruit and added protein powder to my Boost Diabetic base (what I use to make smoothies with instead of water). Now a Boost is 237ml each. I can drink 2 of those a day, and man do they fill you up quickly. They take me awhile to finish. Oh and we cannot forget the water sipped on through out the day.

Only had one smoothie yesterday as I decided to try cream of mushroom soup. Now I am particular about certain things and Campbells Cream of Mushroom is my go to (there's a plug for you Campbells). While making, I added a full can of skim milk (to thin out soup) mixed in with 4 tablespoons of skim milk powder. (Little secret for added protein). I ate 1 cup of soup over an hour. It was delish!!

Have leftovers for today. In Canada, it's our Thanksgiving weekend and I am having it a my place and making the whole dinner. Even before surgery, I found that if I made the dinner, I was less likely to eat alot as I was tired from all the running around I did. So I have been making some things ahead of time for Monday, that can be re-heated nicely. Funny how less stressful it is.

Forgot to mention that I went to see my GP, one week after my surgery. He checked my belly and said nice and soft. I said "gee, what every woman wants to hear". He just rolled his eyes at me, and told me everything felt fine lol. We have a special relationship! Lol On my way out he wished me a Happy Thanksgiving and said "remember that gravy is a liquid". See, special relationship. ????

Wonder what blended turkey, potatoes and gravy would be like?? ...hmmm.

Wishing all of my counterparts, friends and acquaintances here in Canada a very Happy Thanksgiving. Be grateful and thankful for what you have and not what you wish you had.

Cheers!
