As with most everyone here, I have been heavy all of my life. I am currently 53 years old, married (for the 2nd time) for one year. I want to have this surgery so that my health improves. I currently take blood pressure and cholesterol medicines. My surgeon required me to undergo cardiac, pulmonary and vascular clearances. I have completed all of those and everything is a go. My surgery is scheduled for June 19, 2007. I quit smoking April 1, 2007; that's been going okay except I have gained 15 pounds which I must lose before surgery. When I met with Dr. Ben-Meir in March, he said I was not to gain anymore weight. He wouldn't even give me some slack for having to quit smoking...........but I don't really mind because he is a very skilled surgeon and I want to follow all of his instructions.
