A Great Website

Aug 23, 2007

Thanks to ObesityHelp.com, I have found a great website to obtain good protein supplements. It is BariatricEating.com. Their supplements are the best! I prefer buying the samplers without the book. They have shakers in them and you can take one for work and leave one at home. You'll never be without one. The bag they come in is nice too.

8th Month Update

Aug 05, 2007

It's really amazing how life has changed for me since I had surgery. My clothes are all way too big (including my shoes) and I love it! I can't eat much at a time (which is another good thing). Haven't vomited or anything but my body has let me know what kinds of food it likes and doesn't like.

I don't miss carbonated beverages at all. I thought I would because I was a Diet Coke addict before surgery. It's amazing how much sodium diet drinks really have in them. Water, tea, Crystal Lite, skim milk, and low sugar juices are my drinks of preference now.

Another 12 lbs has gone making the total lost equal to 92 lbs.

More next month....

7 Months Down

Jul 06, 2007

I just passed the 7 month mark since surgery and have lost 80 lbs. so far. Nobody said it would ever be easy and it hasn't. However, I know I made the right decision to get the band and don't regret it for one second.

I was doing some cleaning a couple of nights ago and found some old Richard Simmons videos. I think I'm going to try them out and see what I can do. He is so wacky but he has helped so many people lose weight. I really loved him back in the 80's. I bought his Deal-A-Meal (anybody remember that?) and anything else that had his name attached to it.

I'm going to try to find some preop pics and download them and take some pics the way I look now.

More later...

Update

May 06, 2007

I can't believe it's been so long since I updated so now's the time.

At the last visit in April, I was down 55 lbs. I return to Dr. Woodman on Thursday and hopefully will be down another 5-10 lbs.

I am joining Curves next week because now I feel like I can take aerobic exercise and not feel like I'm going to have a heart attack.

I also like the philosophy behind the Curves method. It is designed strictly for women and that's great.

My friend and co-worker, Deb O'Brien, is having a LapBand on Wed. Please pray for her and drop a comment on her message board. She could really use our support.

Movin' Along

Dec 22, 2006

I am a little over 2 weeks post op and everything is going well. I went back to work a couple of days ago.

They had the traditional Christmas dinner at work and I remembered my nutritional lessons. I got a spoonful of what I wanted and chewed my food thoroughly. Sometimes, I forgot and I could tell. This is a challenge for me-learning to chew food thoroughly. Something I'm definitely working on.

Another challenge is not drinking before, during, and after the meal. If anyone has any suggestions as to how they conquered that problem, please let me know.
