Well I am only 2 days away from being banded.  the liquid diet is very hard but suprisingly do-able.  I have cheated but with soft foods like refied beans w/cheese.  I have lost 6 lbs in a week and that to me is very incouraging.  I have only told 3 poeple other than my husband and kids, I told my folks only cause they saw the reminder (like I needed it, more like a trophy) on my phone.  
I have not been able to get more than 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night since I recieved my date, I'm just to excited.  I do realize I wont get to have the weight loss that the rny gives in the first few months but I am her to say that I'm setting my goals for at least 20 lbs the first month..... and that will be without a fill.  Lets see how I do.

I received my date for surgery today.  I have chosen the Realize band instead of the Lap Band.  My date is April 9, 2008.  I am starting my offical weight today because I will be starting my pre-op liquid diet.  SO my offical weight is 216.  Im looking forward to having a month off work to recover.  I hope I can lose 20 or 30 lbs before going back in May.

Things are moving right along now....  they called and set up all of my appointments before the surgery..... psychologist. Physical Therapy,  Dietitian, Pre-Op with RN, Support Group Meeting, Appt with Dr. Pitt, and last but not least, PASS (Pre-Admission Surgery appt at Hospital).  My appointment with Dr Pitt is when I find out when I will have surgery.  Oh and that is all in the month of march.  so on the 25th of March I will know when I go in.   I am so thrilled!!!! 

Well I am going to self pay.  $12,500  at Boone Hospital Center.  I went to their seminar last week and now will wait till they call and set up the appointment.  OH and I also decided that because the University charges 28,000 for the RNY and 18,500 for the Band then I will get Banded at Boone for the smaller price tag.   Wish me luck. 

Well I just thought it would be fun to get a call that told me I was approved to have a procidure done that was a covered benifet,  turns out I was lied to..... AGAIN. I waited for my letter to come in the mail (like they told me) for 2 weeks, when no letter arived I placed another call into the wonderful world of United Health (Non)care.  The young thing i talked to this tiem around told me that OPPS they messed up and forgot to enter into the computer as needing a letter sent out..... wow so she said it would be 5 to 10 days ( I think they must like that frase) GUESS WHAT I waited and no letter came.  So I call again......The first puppet told me she had no record of me, the second puppet told me they never send a letter out about an upcoming procedure,  they simply wait till your at the hospital to have the dr call and get the approval. The 3rd and 4th puppet where just plain stupid that I had to hang up on them because my brain was on puppet overload.  I called one more time and asked for their "rapid resolutions" dept...... what kind of BS is this.  This young kid gets on the phone and I again tell my story and ask if and when I will get my approval letter in the mail and LOW AND BEHOLD I am told they it hasn't went to the pre determinatoin dept yet...... WHAT  you mean after 3 months they havent sent it to the correct dept and they still have jobs........  OMG you talk about wanting to commit phone rage on this bunch of incompitant people.......  He of course got called a name or two.  I gave up at that point before I had a brain anurism (sp).   two days later i received a call (wow) and was asked to submit my five year history and the 
consultation vistit notes fron my first visit in JUNE.  I asked this lady very nicely how long after she got this info that I would have to wait now...... 5 days.  and that this shouldnt be a problem getting my approved.  OK Im kinda happy at this point thinking my going off on them may have got someone working on ME.   Guess what?  I got my letter in 5 working days.  
Oh we are sorry but you do not meat our requierments for this surgery at this time.   I am hiring a lawyer from obesity law.  My heart hurts when I think of them messing with me all these months.   

I am approved!!!  And it only took 2  1/2 months.  I was really thinking it was not going to happen for me.  I had the most simple requirments to get approved but took so very long and so much aggravation.  Im so happy to get this far.  I now wait till I get the hard copy in the mail and they will set the rest of my appointments and get me a surgery date........  whewwww..  Thanks Lord

I am still waiting on the insurance company..  I have called and called and called.  After the 2nd or 3rd week they told me that it "could" take up to a month to get it threw,  so I waited till 8-5-07 (a month) and called and was then told "no not a month, 30 business days."  Oh for crying out loud...  you have got to be kidding rght.  SO, i wait some more......  Aug 15th (30 business days)...... Now they tell me that the Dr office needs to call the case in and that NOONE has looked at it because they havent called it in.  I asked them why they could not have told me all of this the anytime in the last 30 business days...  of course they had no answer and was told that as soon as the dr called this in that it can take up to 3 weeks for an answer..  I asked "is that 21 days or is that 21 business days!!!!!"  I CANT TAKE MUCH MORE!!

well I went to see the surgeon on Monday the 18th, and he was very nice.  I am scheduled to get the only test I need before surgery (Pulmonary function test) on July 5th.  They are sending in my paperwork this week for insurance approval.  I will be sure to post that bit of GREAT news .....  so untill then I hope.... heck I hope it goes really fast..

On a differant note, I just got a premotion at my new job (4 months old) to another department and now am a little nervous about taking time off for the surgery...  I will have this done,,,,,,,,,,,,  (please my Heavenly Father)

gee wizz    I have fnally got my 1st appointment made for Monday, June 18th...   I had to call them again and this time it paid off.   Hope things will go alittle faster now.

Well after sending everthing in,  I sent an email asking about when I could get my 1st appointment.  Natalie wrote me back saying they still needed my referal letter from my PCP......  that was the first thing they should have gotten.....  OK.  So I called a few minutes ago and told my DR to please resend.  But then that one wasn't god enough either......  JUST TO LET YOU KNOW.... If you aren't being treated for anything and have no co-morbities  be sure your Dr WRITES it on your PCP letter.  I had to have it sent 3 times.......Oh how I want the process to get started....  well I think it has I just want it to go faster lol.     well more when i know more.

OK finally on Friday I called yet again and everything is in.  I should be getting a phone call next week to set up my first apointment.

In the mean time, I go to my sych eval on Wednesday the 6th of June.
