2 weeks ago today.

I can't believe it has been two weeks already.  And I am not going to lie.  The first week was hellish.  Liquids and purees are brutal but now I am on food and it is going exceptionally well.

The surgery was a walk in the park.  I was surprised how calm I was that day.  My pre op nurse at Barix was Laura and she was the reason that I was so calm.  Also knowing I had one of the best surgeons, Dr. Pop, helped my nerves as well.  I don't even remember recovery, just waking up in my room.

The nurses were awesome, my favourite was Geraldine, she was a great help.  I walked, I peed,  I slept and two days after surgery, I was discharged and sent home.  The drive home did feel very long but it was great to get home into my own bed.

I feel great now and have lost 12 lbs. since surgery, so 32 lbs. total.. Can't wait for the rest of my journey.

Well here I go.

Dec 28, 2009

This has been an incredible journey so far and I haven't even had the surgery yet.  I sent in my application for OHIP back in June and was approved by August.  I joined the OH Cambridge Coffee group back in July and have met some of the dearest people in my life.  They have been there, done that and as they go ahead of me they give me the strength and support I need to continue on with confidence.

Lisa, Erica, Sheila, Kim T, Kim C, Stacey, Jackie, Mandy, Kitty, Wendy and Mike, you have no idea how much I love you guys!

After a few more tests and losing almost 20 lbs. on my own, I am ready to go.  To begin a new life that has so many incredible, exciting things ahead for me.

Off to Michigan tomorrow, surgery on Wednesday.  So excited!
