Hello everyone....Glad that I found this place .  I have read through a few stories and feel like it is old home week!!   This is the only place on the internet that there are people like me with the same cares, goals, and setbacks.

My highest weight at one point was 300+, not really sure of how many ++'s.   I was always very thin until age 25, weighing in at 128 at 5/7".

I met someone and remarried again.  Unfortunately for me, I picked up his and his family's eating and exercise habits.  I started putting on 10 pounds per month.  Several times during my adulthood, I made it down to 170 but always started gaining it all back and then some.

After my husband's death in 2003, I started losing weight rapidly because I was essentially not eating.  My doctor asked me how I was doing it and I just quipped that I was cutting back on the size of my portions (way back to almost nothing).

Since then, I have reached a plateau in my weight at about 235 but have also shrunk to 5'5" which makes my BMI 40.

My exercise habits have increased due to my boyfriend not being a couch potato and being very active.  We go and do lots of things together which require walking.  I also attend CURVES.

I am now at a point in my life that I want lap band surgery.  I have entertained this idea for two years now.  Through reading, surfing the web and watching TV I have become fairly well acquainted with the procedure.

I am sure there is a lot more to learn.  That is why I am here and also to see  the good results people are having post-op.  Everyone needs more education and encouragement.

I am now at the point of having the psychiatric, nutritional and exercise-physiological performed.  After that, I will be set up an appointment with my surgeon and then a surgery date will be set.....

Hoping to get to talk with you all soon......Pat
