Well family and friends, I have one week from tomorrow before doing the deed! I am starting to think more and more on the surgery and what it might be like afterwards (I am an RN, knowing too much is dangerous I think, heh heh). Yesterday my friend, Diane (unofficial angel for me), and I went to Billings and shopped everywhere pricing willmaker kits, willmaker software, and related books. The most expensive was the books which some include a CDROM at $40. The cheapest were paper form kits at office supply stores anywhere from $3.99(single page) to $25 for a kit of forms and instructions. We went to Best Buy and found the best deals were in software....many marked down. We chose a program that was current 2003 and included everything from making wills to living wills etc for only $19.99! My friend and I split the cost and we each will make out our wills and such using this software. While it is unpleasant to think of such things, I am taking no chances with this surgery. I have a young son and am a single parent and want to make sure all details are covered. Hope this might help everyone at preop stage.
I also made reservations at Great Falls, MT, motel for the 29th thru the 1st. Checkout is 11 am the morning of July 2nd, which hopefully I will be discharged that day. It is a 4 hour drive home and Diane is driving. Ugh, not looking forward to that long drive after surgery. SHould I bring a large water bottle and protein drinks? What did others do on a long drive/flight home after surgery so as not to get dehydrated and such? Should I stash a "vomit bag" under the seat, just in case? LOL! The things I worry about, eh? LOL.
I had preop lab work and EKG on Friday and those results were faxed to Dr. Rohrer's office. Thank you Lisa for helping me get that done. What a runaround I had at the local hospital clinics here to get that done.
This last week before surgery I plan to work, work, work at my job, trying to get a big enough paycheck to help cover bills and such the first two weeks in July. I am not sure if I will be up to typing after surgery right away.
Hope everyone is doing great in whatever stage of your journey. Thanks to everyone corresponding and posting for me. I sure do appreciate it.
HUGS from me!
