Still Going Strong!

Jan 20, 2009

It's been a crazy few months and I've been unemployed and searching for a job like a madwoman, but wanted to post some results!  I'll be adding photos and measurements too.  I'm eating solid foods again, trying to get my 75% protien and 25% complex carbs (sometimes easy, sometimes not-so-easy).  I had my first fill on Dec. 30 and it went well.  I seem to be tolerating it well.  I was 347 the day of surgery and 331 at my two week post-op visit.  At my first fill I was 321!  That's 26 lbs!.  Today I weight 314 for a total of 33 lbs!  And I've lost 12.5 total inches.  My clothes are fitting more loosely and my friends and family say they can see a difference (I can't see it yet, expect in my face).  I've been stress eating a little bit this week, but I'm getting back on track.  I started swimming and I've been going to support group monthly.
I'll keep you posted!

I did it!

Nov 26, 2008

I had my lapband surgery on Thursday, November 20, 2008.  Dr. Michael Snyder was my surgeon and the surgery took place at Rose Hospital with no complications.  I was home by 6 p.m. that night.  Tomorrow will be one week post-op.  I am proud of myself for making this decision.  It took a lot of time, research and heartache to get to this point and I wish I had done it sooner.  Good luck to you all, whether you a pre or post op.  I'll keep you posted on my success.

I weighed 347 on the day of surgery.  Today I weigh 340.

This is the start of something good . . .

After years of tears, frustration and anger . . . after years of coming to this site, reading blogs, looking at before and after pictures, talking to friends and family who have had surgery . . . after years of pain, of clothing getting tighter, of being out of breath walking up my stairs, of getting dumped by men who decided they wanted someone smaller or someone who could hike and bike with them . . . after all the years of health concerns, rising blood pressure and raised eyebrows from my doctor. . . after years of all of this I finally took the first step toward putting hope into action last night and attended a weight loss seminar by Dr. Michael Snyder.  I was so inspired, so motivated and excited by the seminar that I got up first thing this morning and called my health insurance provider (United Healthcare).  And they cover the surgery!  I contacted Dr. Snyder's office and I started the ball rolling.  I'm doing this!  I'm actually doing this!
