Gastric Bypass 9/23/2008 at age 56 and weight 235. Dr. Atkinson in Las Vegas. Immediate problems. NON-STOP Diarrhea and extreme fatigue (can't get out of chair) also terrible memory loss (I have driven by my own house many times) and mental fog. I feel like I am not getting the minerals and nutrients my body needs. I take massive amount of liquid vitamins and minerals. I eat small meals constantly because I am so hungry and because they end up in the toilet undigested or only partially digested. After 2 1/2 yrs of every test known and no abnormal results. My Dr. just agreed to do a reversal. 5/4/2011 Yeah! He said I had chronic dumping syndrome. I don't care what he calls it, I am just heart broken about this. I wanted to be one of his biggest success stories and be slim and healthy, now i just pray I can feel like i used to before surgery, even if I gain all 60 lbs. back.
Oh yeah, along with the diarrhea came fecal incontinence. I have "accidents" a lot. In my bed, in my bath, in the car. I am too young for diapers. This is not what they advertised the surgery would be like. I stay home and isolate out of shame, but this is not my fault. Like is said I have followed EVERY instruction, suggestion and diet change the Dr. has reccomended. It is not the food or my mental attitude (I did see a Psychologist just to rule that out.) my body simply will not tolerate this surgery. Thank goodness my insurance will pay for the reversal.
