I've got my new date! I went ahead and called the Doctor's office and asked for the insurance specialist (Debbie). She said that I was rescheduled for August 27th. I can't lie that a postponement of a month is disheartening! I know I just have to be happy that I am approved and on my way.

I saw Dr. Kim this morning! First, Mimi (the Nurse) brought me into the exam room and weighed me and opened my chart. She asked if I had been approved yet and I told her that my insurance (TRICARE) has a website where I've been checking daily but it still says "in process" so I'm still waiting. She noted the sticky note in my chart that read "H&P" and she excused herself to check her list. Sure enough I had been approved AND already had a surgery date. They scheduled me for July 28th and when I saw that date my heart sank. My co-worker is on vacation from August 1-8 so I had to postpone. When I told Mimi she told me it would "a while" before my surgery but when Dr. Kim came in he said it should delay me about 3 weeks. That is just fine with me though! So now I sit and wait for Debbie (the insurance specialist at the office) to call me back and see what the new date will be. I'm so thrilled that I'm moving along now! I started this process back in July 2007 and had to switch Doctors/Bariatric programs once which is why it has taken so long. 

I asked Dr. Kim about my diet pre-op and it turns out that I will not have a liquid diet at all. He did say to "take it easy" the last two days though. I really thought I was going to have to do the liquids pre-op....I guess I should have asked him that during a previous appointment. 

So now I sit and wait!! (Happily...by the way!!)

On June 3, 2008 my authorization was submitted to my insurance, Tricare. They have a website that I was able to sign in to (www.mytricare.com) and I can check on the status of all referrals and authorizations. Any guesses on how often I've checked it? LOL. A minimum of 3 times a day since then. I know that it can take then 2-3 weeks to get back with an answer but I am OCD about it right now. 

I have my next appointment with Dr. Kim on Thursday, June 12th and I sure hope that I have an answer by then. I know that isn't a guarantee but can I dare to dream?
