HI All
I am new here.
I have not had surgery...(well actually I had a failed lap band experience in 2004-2005 but the band is out now.
I am looking into Bypass WLS.
I am 52, in menopause, taking anti depressants all of which hae chnaged my metabolism alot and so I am at this point trying to learn about the sucess of such a surgery given this set of pre-existing situations.
For me, Lapband, was torture and painful all the time. (I know ift works for a lot of people) But I was compliant but bad fills, 2 slippages and constant purging and choking were impossible for me and I had it removed.
But that, by its nature, is reversable.
Bypass is not. I would not want to live with some condition or result (like with the band) that made me rue the day I decided to have the surgery, like hormonal changes, hot flashes (more than usual), inability to eat et al.
So many questions.
So I want to say hello for now and welcome anyone. PS If kapband worked for you, Wonderful. I am not anti-band. This was my experience only.
Thanks
Marian
