48 hours post-op

Oct 09, 2013

I had surgery Monday 10/7/13. I was in the surgery room at noon. My surgery time was 11:15. So 45 minutes late. The time flew by with 2 of my best friends there with me cracking jokes and what not. my anesthesiologist "Dr Carson" was pretty cool. He chatted and cracked some jokes as well. Apparently all anesthesiologists must go through every surgery before they graduate. Even C-section and hysterectomies lol.

I was prepared for excruciating pain after surgery but my pain was minimal. Mostly, I'm sure, was due to the overwhelming nausea I had which was so bad it overshadowed the pain. I threw up 3 times in the hospital. 2 of those three had a little bit of brown (old) blood. however after the last time I threw up I felt so much better. Once I was home I threw up once but I pretty much expected it this time as I took 10cc (2 tsp) of liquid lortab. The stuff makes me have nausea and vomiting on a normal day so my hopes were not high that it would stay down this time. I didn't count on it coming back up so quickly tho. Oh well, it was worth a shot. I'm having left shoulder pain, some pain when breathing deeply but it's bearable. I pretty much just feel blah today. I just want to stay in my bed and sleep a little. My body is refusing to sleep so I guess I have to wait until tonight.

Probably the weirdest thing that has happened is my vision is off. I'm sure it has something to do with all the drugs I was given in the hospital so I hope it gets better soon.

I can't wait to have some "real" food. I can go on the pureed stage Monday so I'm counting down the days.
