at weight goal??
Jan 26, 2010
I'm always puzzled as to what my weight goal should be
According to a calculator I found online it says that based on my height (5''6") that I should weigh in at 139 lbs (healthy range is from 123 thru 154), now I'm being realistic so I put my goal as 150 (of course hoping I will be 140).
However, I have a question/Concerned, my doctor never really told me what my goal weight should be, I'd love to know that magic number, but everyone says it's different from anyone, there's days in the past couple of weeks when I wondered if I have reached my goal (internally).. this is what I mean by this
For the past month of so, I've been fluctuacting between 170 and 173 lbs, I really would like to reach 150 by my 1 year anniversary and as of Friday I will be already 8 months out and haven't seen much movement on the scale lately ;(
Based on what I've been reading, they said the success rate for RNY is 70 to 75% of excess weight, for me I was 240 if I calculate (240-139) that's 101 lbs out of which 70%= 70.7 lbs which will put me at 169 lbs (only 1 to 4 lbs away of my current way). If that's the case, does it mean I 'm at goal?
I'm a little frustated sometimes, cause I read other people's posts and they have reached their goal by 9 or 10 months and their weight goal and to me it seems that if I go by what the charts says, then I've reached my goal, if I go by my dream goal or healthy weight chart (150 (140sh)) then I still have 20+ lbs to go, but I don't know if my body is now telling me it's done..
Sorry.. I should be thankful for the great progress and I am.. I guess I just want to vent a little bit on my lack of knowledge on this subject.
Thanks for listening (reading)!!
7 .5 months out = 75 lbs down

I'm so happy, having the RNY surgery was a blessing and the best decision ever.. this morning for the first time in over 2 decades (that's how long since I can remember) I squeezed my bottom half into a size "10" pants (and they are not strechy pants, they are regular slacks ;)
I can't believe it.. it's been an amazing journey, I try not to obsess too much about the actual pounds lost, as it seems I've been in limbo between 75 and 80 lbs lost for the past couple of months, but the clothes keep falling off ;).. at the time of surgery I was still pushing a size a 20 (and the clothes were strechy and fit snug)
yay!!

3 months out -- 50 lbs down
Sep 10, 2009
sometimes I do get a little frustrated because I've not lost as many lbs as other people who have had the surgery, but on the other hand I'm diabetes medication free at this point and that alone makes this journey worth it.
I will continue to post progress as time goes by :)
3 1/2 weeks out 22 lbs lost
Jun 24, 2009
So far, I'm not really hungry, but I'm getting used to the 3 meals a day with 2 protein shake snacks in between meals, =). I'm also working out one hr at the gym 3-4 times a week and the remaining days I go for at least 8 blocks walk.
I wish I had already lost the remaining 75 lbs I want to lose, but I'm learning to be patient, and I realize it didn't take me only 3 1/2 weeks to gain all the weight so it's better to have a steady but healthy weight loss.
I have posted a few pics I just took this week.. I;m planning on blogging my progress on a monthly basis.
It will be interesting to read these blogs as time goes by and I'm getting closer to my goal :)
