Mary E.
Here is my story:
I have been overweight my entire life. I have yo-yo'd with diets but never maintained very long. In May of last year, when I got pregnant I weighed 240 lbs. After I had my son in January 2006 I weighed in at about 260 lbs. I then underwent a back surgery in July for a herniated disk on L4-L5 and gained about 15 lbs.
A friend of mine had been researching and really considering WLS so I starting doing my own research. She had been refered to Dr. Harry Meyers by a friend and co-worker who has had great success with his work. Anyway, after I decided I wanted the surgery, the process was actually quite simple. The insurance approved me and the only things I had to do were meet my Dr.'s requirements. I had to attend a support group meeting, meet with a shrink, see a cardiologist, have an endoscopy, meet with a physical trainer, have a metabolic study, and meet with a nutritionist. I completed these things within about 6 weeks and had my lap RNY on September 29, 2006.
