I had my surgery in June 2006.  I did the surgery for health reasons.  I was overweight and on both oral meds and insulin injections for diabetes and meds for high blood pressure.  My mother died at a young age (47) and had a very similar health history.  I did not want that to happen to me.

A co-worker had told me of her experience with bariatric surgery.  When her surgeon, Dr. Julie Ellner, came to town for a seminar I attended her lecture along with my husband and son.  After meeting Dr. Ellner and learning about bariatric surgery I knew I had found a way to change my destiny and live a longer, healthier life.

Since having surgery in June, I have lost 95 pounds and am no longer taking any prescription meds for diabetes or high blood pressure.  I have gone from a size 22 pants to a size 6.  I feel great.

My family has always shown me support.  They have been extremely helpful during the past 9 months and I know they are proud of me.  I still could lose another 20 pounds and hope to accomplish that in the next few months.  However if Inever lose another pound, I am happy with my progress.

I recommend this surgery (and Dr. Julie Ellner!) to anyone with a serious obesity problem.  It has changed my life.
