Making Progress

Oct 17, 2017

So I am 1 month 2 days post op since my RNY surgery with Dr. Schmidt. Feeling GREAT!. I did have a little hiccup along the way which wasn't too bad. About 3 weeks post op I developed a Perioperative Seroma at the site that the camera was inserted it wasn't too bad but could have been worse. Dr. Schmidt and his entire surgical team took such great care of me, I am so thankful that my OB/GYN made that recommendation. Dr. Schmidt has literally saved my life, today I am truly blessed to have a second chance.

When I first did the consult visit with Dr. Schmidt I remember him telling me that the medication I was taking is why I couldn't lose weight. That stuck with me and when it got the point where I was gagging just to take a pill I decided to see if what he said was true so yes I did the ultimate sin, I stop taking my medications for 30 days without letting my doctor know and would you believe I lost about 30 lbs. It's amazing how parmaceutical company only sometimes see the $$$ and not the impact medications they create have such a negative impact.

I would say it took me a whole year before seeing Dr. Schmidt again and this time I was sold. By this time I was up to taking 14 pills a day plus 2 different types of insulin, my body was failing me. Medications weren't working anymore and I was getting sicker and sicker and needed more medications and my doctor did not want to give me anymore. So I would say now it was worth it to move forward to have this surgery and I am so glad I met Dr. Schmidt and his surgical team.
