The Journey

Oct 18, 2007

It was January, 1999 when I had my accident.  There were four surgeries, two and a half years in a wheelchair and two and a half years spent walking with a cane.  I am now caneless, but lately,I have relapsed because of my reoccuring weight--- you know, 250, then 299.  245, then 300.  Presently I am 304 pounds.Because of all the metal in my leg, total knee and some bone replacement, my walking on occasion has resorted back to the cane.  Because a wheelchair is not an option that I want to consider, and because I almost had this surgery five years ago and backed out the day before the surgery, for this time in my life, this is the surgery for me to SAVE MY LIFE AND BE THE PERSON I WANT TO BE.  I am so excited, I can't hardly keep it to myself.  I'll keep you all posted because I have been totally jazzed by reading other people's accounts and totally inspired.

I GOT A DATE!!!!

At first, I thought my date would be December 14th, but then the office lost my paperwork (new Staff snafu) and now the new date is February 19th, 2008.  As long as I can get it, I'm not too upset.  I GOT MY APPROVAL LETTER FROM THE BC/BS last week, even though they got it at the doctor's office last week.  I feel like framing it. (smile)  Today I am really happy.
