Im a 34 y/o female from New Haven, CT , married with 3 children and I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life, I never even thought I could get this big. In the past year I have put on 50 lbs and I am miserable! I started in July of 2007 looking into the Lap-Band Sugery and I am still waiting. I first contacted the Yale Bariactric Center in October 07 and ask for an appointment, they then sent me out a packet with all the information and steps I needed to take before I could get an appointment with Dr. Bell. So, I immediately started my process, I filled out my four page questionaire and sent it back the next day, I went to my Nov 2nd nutrition appointment and my Dec 3 phyc eval appointment($300.00 dollars 2 weeks b4 Christmas appointment!) and my primary physician had sent my referral back in September. The Bariactric Center has had all my paperwork since the last week in December and I STILL have not got an appointment! I called and faxed them copies of all my documents within the past 2 weeks and still no call for an appointment! They had said the Head nurse is looking it over and they will contact me, but I think it is just taking too long! I want to just get in there and find out whatelse has to be done before I can actually get the surgery. I called my insurance company and they do not require anything except paperwork from my doctor reccommending the surgery. Is there anyone that can give me some information on what to expect next. I am just so worried I am going to have to wait another 6 month before I can get it done.
