I have been researching this procedure for many years now, and I have finally got the ball rolling. Hope to hear from insurance co. very soon. Well, I have a date to speak with the surgeon for the surgery. Dr. Chasen at Reynolds Army Hospital in Ft. Sill, OK. If anyone has gone to him, let me know. Hopefully, I will have a surgery date very soon. 3/14/02
4/5/02- Well, I saw Dr. Chasen on the 2nd and he was really nice and straight forward. He requires you to do alot of things before you can even get on the waiting for surgery list. Which I was ok with doing, except he was saying that it was a long wait. He said maybe sometime in September he could get me in. He did offer to give me a referral to see dr. Warnock in Tx, which i keep kicking myself because I didnt take it right then. I wanted to think about both doctors and their different procedures. I went to the hospital support group meeting and their were people that had their surgery from the army and dr. warnock. I made my decision to go with Dr. Warnock, so I called the surgery clinic the next day and left a message with the receptionist that I wanted Dr. Chasen to give me the referral to Dr. Warnock...so, now I have to wait and see how long it takes him to do that. I called Tricare and they said for me to wait till tuesday and if they didnt get anything or I hadnt heard from them to call back to the surgery clinic again. Man, why didnt i just get the referral when i was there in the office. oh well...till next post.
4-17-02..WEll, I finally got my referral to see Dr. Warnock in TX. I go see him on May 22, 2002. I hope surgery wont be too long after that. yeah.
5-27-02..I had my consult with Dr. Warnock. It went really well. He made sure you understood the risks of the surgery. Debbie, his receptionist, told me that she will be sending off the paperwork to get Tricare approval and hopefully they will be quick about it. She said that she thinks my surgery will be sometime the end of June, first week in July. bye for now.
6-09-02..Still waiting to hear about a surgery date. I called Tricare and they still havent received anything from Dr. Warnock's office. I called Debbie on Wednesday 6-05-02 and she said she is really behind and hasnt sent it yet. She said she hopes to get it sent soon. I am trying so very hard to be patient and understanding. I know she is busy..but...lol I will hear from her sooner or later..lol bye for now.
6-13-02..I heard from my insurance company, and I am APPROVED!!! yeah. I am now waiting to hear from my Dr. office to get a surgery date. I keep calling and all I get is the secretary's voicemail..and she never returns my calls. So, I am still anxiously awaiting to hear something.
06-14-02...I have a date..JULY 11, 2002. YEAH..I finally heard from Dr. Warnocks office. It took 3 weeks, since my consult. 3 months since I started to get this date. Now, the countdown begins..;) bye for now
06/25/02..15 days and a wake up...WOW!! Its coming fast. I am soo happy..I can't wait till I am post-op and can finally start losing the weight. I have been sorting through all my old clothes that I kept, hoping to lose weight so I could get back in them. Well, the day will finally come when I will..yeah..so I am sorting through the sizes to organize them. Keeps me busy.lol bye for now.
7/02/02. HI..only 8 days and a wake up!! Can you believe it!! I cant. LOL Getting really excited. I cant wait.
7/06/02 4 days and a wake up!! Wow, it sure is coming fast. My husband left yesterday to go pick up his mother to help us out while I am in the hospital. They will be back Sunday night, then I think it will all hit me..LOL I have been waiting for this for sooooo long..7 years...That for it to finally be just around the corner is unbelievable. I wanted to thank everyone who has sent me well wishes and prayers for a safe surgery and speedy recovery. I appreiciate it very much. My pre-op appt is on Tuesday July 9. I will post again after that appt. bye for now. :)
7/10/02..Tomorrow is the big day!! Today I am on the clear liquid diet. I am soooo excited, I cant believe it is finally here. I did all my preop appts yesterday. Everything went fine, no problems. Later this evening I have to drink that yucky laxative. But other than that I am so ready for this surgery. I am trying to think positive because I also think about if I died, I dont want that@@!!!! I will post agian when I am on the other side. WhOOHOO! I wanted to thank Darcy for being here and listening to all my worries and for all those small size clothes....which hopefully I will be able to get into before long. :) You look great! Thanks Sandy for listening too...You keep up the good work. You are getting smaller every time I see you. :)bye for now
7/16/02..Well..I made it to the other side. Its been the hardest 5 days ever!! It is getting slowly better. I was released from the hospital on Sunday 7/14/02...boy was that hard. Trying to sleep even in my recliner was very uncomfortable. Anyways..I went to see Dr. Warnock today 7/16/02, just 2 days from the hospital and I was feeling alittle better. Here is the highlight of it all...I have LOST 21 POUNDS, in just 5 days. My tummy cannot tolerate Water believe it or not. So, I have found decaf ice tea..plain..is the best thing. Dr. W said that was fine. Anyways..I wanted to post a little..hard to sit in this chair for much longer. I will post later. Good luck to all the pre-ops...Dr. Warnock is great. You will do just fine. bye for now.
7/19/02...Well, I feel much better these days. I can drink Water again...yeah. I think my stomach was iratated by the pain meds. Its been one week and I cant believe the night and days difference one day can make. Especially looking at my last post. I was hurtin there. LOL. I cant wait till tuesday..I get my staples out..yeah. till next time.
7/23/02..Went to the doctors today to get my staples out. Didnt hurt. I lost another 3 lbs, total of 24 lbs gone forever in 12 days. Cant complain! He told me I wasnt eating enough and that is probably why I hadnt lost more over the past week. I wont see him again for another 2 months...till next time.
8/5/02..Hello all...I am down another 4 lbs...total of 28 lbs gone forever.:) I cant believe I will be a month post op on the 11th. I have lost tons of inches, no longer in a 26/28 yeah!!!! I am still working on getting in all my water for the day. I hardly even pee anymore..LOL Tried Pizza last night..just the crunchy crust part, a few bites and picked the pepperoni off..good protein source..it was good. :) I really like Wendy's cheese and bacon baked potatoe. Lots of protein...I can only eat a little bit, but I also have it for dinner if I get it for lunch. I have no cravings for sweet stuff..i just crave real food..LOL
8/12/02..I am feeling pretty good. I am down 35 lbs since surgery. I cant believe it...LOL. I can fit in clothes I havent been able to since I found out I was pregnant with my baby. She is almost 11 months old...so, its been awhile since I seen this size. LOL
8/17/02..I've lost another 4 lbs...I am down 39 lbs so far. YEAH!! Feeling pretty good these days.
8/31/02..hello all...I finally broke my plateau that I have been on..seems like forever..LOL I am down another 3 lbs, so 42 lbs so far. I am now 7 weeks out. I cant believe 2 months is coming already. Size 24's are getting a little loose. I am walking every morning, weekdays only....too many kids to drag along on the weekends..LOL I tried drinking OJ, cant tolerate it..hurts my tummy so bad. Water, V8, Minute Maid LITE lemonade, are the only things that work for me. I cant stand Crystal Lite anymore. I love grilled, baked Chicken, no breading of course, raw carrots and ranch dip are the best, baked potatoes, I can pretty much tolerate most things. I had hoped that I would loose 60 lbs by 2 months out...but I think that is gonna be a bit much. I go see my doc on the 23 of Sept., so maybe by then I will have lost 60 lbs..:) will post later.
9/7/02..I am down 2 more lbs...I've lost 44 lbs in 7 1/2 weeks out. I was able to fit in my size 22 jeans...whoohoo..so excited. I can pretty much eat anything, just a little amount. Otherwise, I am feeling pretty good.
9/9/02..down to 260 lbs..I have lost 47 lbs now. Almost to my goal of 50 lbs off. HOpefully I can loose the 3 lbs by my 2 month anniversary on 9/11. Just a few days away. I want to have a total weight loss of at least 80 lbs by Christmas. Feeling great.
9/11/02..Today, I am 2 months post op. I have lost 50 lbs..I am so excited and have reached my first goal. My next goal is to get under 200 lbs....so another 57 lbs to go..Hopefully I can reach that in 2 months..LOL!! Feeling better and better each day.

9/14/02..lost another 2 lbs...down to 255 now. yeah!!
10/10/02..Almost 3 months out and I am down to 250 lbs..so I have lost 57 lbs. Was on a long plateau there for a while..but back to losing again.
10/13/02..I have lost 60 lbs now..yeah. I am 3 months post op and I cant believe it.
10/17/02....I am down a few more lbs. I weigh 245 now, which makes me down 62 lbs total. I keep updating my weight, so my BMI keeps getting lower and lower..yeah. I feel so much better these days. I also got a seasonal job at Bath and Body Works...so happy about that, before I would have never even thought about trying to get a job there. My self esteem was too low before to even think about it.
10/22/02..I am down another 4 lbs. I had my orientation at Bath and Body works last night..and I wasnt the biggest one there.LOL I think I will have fun working there.
11/5/02..I am down another 3 lbs..which puts me at 237. That makes a total weight loss of 70 lbs, in less than 4 months. I cant believe it. I am able to fit in jeans that I havent been able to fit in for like 3 years, since I met my husband. Its a great feeling. I am happy that I had this surgery.
11/19/02..I am a few days over 4 months post op and I have lost 74 lbs. I am wearing an 18/20 I am so excited about that, I havent been smaller than that in my adult life. So as I loose more weight I will be smaller than I have ever been. I have been riding my exercise bike regularly..I feel great. I feel like I can do anything now. I plan on going back to school..hopefully in January. We only have a year left here in Oklahoma, we hope to get back to Ft. Bragg, NC. But, you go where the Army sends ya..LOL I will actually be skinny..lol...where ever we go next.
12/02/02..I have now lost 80 lbs. I cant believe it. Its exciting and I feel really good. I had hoped to loose 80 by Christmas, so I have reached that one and now my new goal is to loose 100 lbs. That I cant wait to reach.
12/09/02..Almost 5 months out and I have lost 82 lbs. 18 more lbs to go until I reach my 100 lb lose. Then, of course, my next goal will be to get under the dreaded 200 lbs mark.
12/19/02..I am down another 3 lbs..which puts me at 222. Total weight loss of 85 lbs. I am 5 months and 8 days post op. I am feeling great!
12/25/02..I weighed myself 3 days ago and I was down to 217. Thats a total loss of 90 lbs. I havent been on the scale since then, so I may have lost a few more pounds. I cant wait to reach the minus 100 lbs mark. I hope to reach that by my 6 month anniversary, which will be on Jan. 11. I will keep you all posted!! Merry Christmas!!
12/28/02..down another 2 lbs..I have lost 92 lbs and I am weighing in at 215 now. Size 18 jeans!! I cant believe I was wearing 26/28 just 5 1/2 months ago. Happy New Year to everyone..it sure will be for me!!!
01/07/03..Almost my 6 month anniversary...I have lost another pound putting me at 214 and a total lose of 93 lbs. I cant believe it. I love watching the bmi calculator going down..lol
01/12/03...I am now 6 months post op and I have lost 95 lbs. I am in a size 18 jean and 14/16 top. I hope by my year anniversary I have reached my goal!! I feel wonderful and cant believe I didnt do this sooner!!

01/17/03..I am finally down 100 POUNDS!!!!! How exciting is that. 6 months and 6 days post op and I have lost 100 pounds. I hope to reach my goal weight by my 1 year anniversary in July.
02/01/03..boy was I on a long plateau.. I have lost another 2 pounds...so total of 102 pounds gone forever! I kept going up and down with the pounds over this past 2 weeks. But, I have been at this weight for 2 days now, so it must be staying..lol Feeling really good.
2/10/03..i've lost another 2 lbs. so I have lost 104 lbs in about 7 months. I feel great. Trying to get under 200 lbs!!!!! Almost there.
2/13/03..Had my 6 month follow up appt., a month late, my doctor is very happy with my weight loss. He told me he wanted me to be at 180 lbs. I feel this is still to heavy. I have never ever been 180 in my adult life, maybe in the 5th grade..lol. So, we shall see when I get to that point if I like it and if my body likes it. He has already started talking about getting approved for a tummy tuck for my 1 year mark. That usually takes off about 5-7 lbs of skin, so he said that would put me at 175 or so. He said he didnt want me to get too skinny. I never thought I would ever hear that!! Can anyone tell me again, why I had this surgery?????? LOL to get skinny!!!!
2/21/03..I have lost another pound...not sure why I am having a hard time losing these last 2 months. Maybe this is where my body wants to stay. We shall see. I have now lost 105 pounds in little over 7 months, weighing in at 202!! I just wanna be out of the 200's!!!!!!!! just 3 little more pounds...!! Otherwise I am feeling great, my blood tests came back just fine.
02/22/03..I have lost another pound..so maybe I havent hit a plateau, just going slow these days. Which is fine...as long as I am losing. I just wanna get under 200!! 2 more little bitty pounds!! I have been riding my stationary bike every day and I am adding more time each week. I started going longer, so maybe thats why I have been able to lose more lately!! I did the weight loss planner on this site, never noticed it before. It tells you where you should expect to be after the surgery. It told me that I should be at 189. So, I guess my doc was right when he said he didnt want me to get under 180. I would be happy to be there. I should be lucky to get there, since just 7 months ago I was 307!!! I feel very fortunate to get at any weight after this surgery!!!
03/01/03..Well guess what?? I am finally under 200 POUNDS!! I got on the scale this morning and weighed in at 198. So that means I have lost 109 pounds in 7 1/2 months!! I started to cry when I realized I am finally under that 200 mark. I havent been under 200 pounds since elementary school!! I am able to wear a size 16 jeans!! WHOOHOO, I cant even remember when I was wearing that size..maybe junior high. Well..I just wanted to share my news. I am off soon to go to a concert for the first time in my life!!!! Kenny Chesney..whoohooo, he sure is a cutie!! LOL
03/23/03..I am now 195 lbs. A total loss of 112 pounds in about 8 months. Its definately slow going now. I have to fight for ever pound now. I think I am going with my doctors goal weight for me, which is 180. Once I get there, I will try for 170. I have been worrying lately, just because I can eat more now. It scares me that I might gain weight back. I am wearing a size 16 and a Large or XLarge shirt. I am trying to get my scanner working again. Hopefully, my pics will be up before ya know it. 04/01/03..down another 2 lbs. Making that a grand total of -114 lbs lost. I feel great. Now I have to find clothes to fit me again. I am out of all those clothes in the back of the closet you save for when you loose weight..LOL I am smaller now than I have ever been. 13 pounds from doctors goal weight!!!! 23 pounds from my goal!!
04/17/03..Nothing new to report really. I have definatley slowed down with the weight loss. I am 9 months post op and have lost 114 lbs, which feels wonderful!!! I have figured I would have lost more by now. It seemed like at six months post op the weight just slowed down so rapidly. I went from losing 10-14 pounds a month to about 4-5. Now is to about 2 pounds a month. I really have to watch what I eat now. I had hoped with having the surgery I wouldnt have to do that, but I see now that its like being on a diet for the rest of my life.
04/24/03..I have lost another 3 pounds, putting me at 190. I have lost a total of 117 pounds and only 10 pounds from my doctors goal weight for me of 180. I am so happy to have finally got off the plateau I was on. Thanks to Becky for the encouraging email!!! I am the smallest I have ever been and extremely happy with myself for having this surgery done!!!!
04/29/03..I will try this again..I posted this once already, but it didnt post. Anyway, I went to take my daughter to the doctor and while I was there, I decided to weigh myself. I got on there and weighed in at 188. Putting my total weightloss of 119 lbs in a little over 9 months. I am extremely happy with my weightloss. I want to at least get to 170. Only 18 lbs to go. A piece of cake right..?? lol
06/03/03..Its been awhile since I posted. I am now at 181, one pound away from doctors goal for me. 11 pounds from my goal. I feel great, have been getting alot of attention!!! Went dancing last weekend and it felt great to get hit on!!! LOL I never thought in my life I would be at this weight. its great!! Thats a total loss of 126 pounds in almost 10 1/2 months!!!!!
06/29/03...Still holding at 181. Doing great. I can tell I am losing inches...16's are getting baggy. yeah
07/11/03...WOW!! Can you believe its been a year already. I have lost 126 lbs total so far. Due to some medical issues that have come up and I will post about that a little later. I have to stop losing weight. This is where my doctor wants me to be at anyways. Hope everyone is doing well on their weight loss journey.
09/06/03..Hello everyone, Its been along time since I posted last. I have stopped losing because I am pregnant!!!!! I am now 15 1/2 weeks pregnant. I have gained 3.5 pounds in my first trimester. But, before WLS I would have already gained about 20 lbs, I'm sure..LOL Everything seems to be going well, I will be having my ultrasound the 2nd week in October. We werent trying to get pregnant, was on the pill, so just a little warning to you all that are on the pill after WLS, be CAREFUL!!! LOL will post soon
10/17/03..Its been awhile since I posted, the pregnancy is going great. I am now 23 weeks pregnant and we found out we are having another girl. I have gained 8 pounds so far, I keep thinking I should be gaining a little bit more, but the doc says thats just fine. thats about it for now.
01/05/04..Happy New Year to everyone. I am 33 weeks pregnant and have gained a whopping 35 lbs. It really freaks me out that it has been so easy to gain weight. I am laughing at my last posted message about the weight gain. Anyways, doing really great. Looks like we will be moving by summer time. Husband made Warrant Officer for army aviation...so Ft. Rucker we will go. I was out trying to find a maternity ball gown, he is getting a St. Barbara's Day award (army stuff), boy, was that a challenge. I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for something that I wouldn't wear again. I managed to find something. I hope to post pictures. I have my next OB visit in 2 days, will post after that. take care
01/21/04..Well, the ball was great, by the way. I have only gained 30 lbs. My husband got his orders, looks like we are moving in 6 weeks. He leaves tomorrow to go to WOCS, we will go when he graduates. So, that means he will not be here when I have the baby. Thank goodness for friends. I have to go twice a week for Non-Stress tests for the baby and once a week to see the OB. I think that is causing me more stress having to worry about finding a sitter, since my husband isn't going to be here. I guess I will manage, like I said before, thank god for friends!! Take care
04/01/04..I had my baby, on Valentine's day. He weighed in at 7lbs 2 oz. He is a heatlhy boy. We are here in Ft. Rucker, AL and so far I like it alot. I gained 39 lbs with him and have lost 20 lbs so far. I have to lose the other 19 lbs on my own and it is proving very difficult right now. I know the baby is only 6 weeks and they usually say give yourself a year to get back to normal. So, we shall see. anyways. take care
05/16/04..Its been awhile since I have updated. I am having lots of difficulty in losing the baby weight that I gained during pregnancy. I am at 200-204 and cannot seem to get under that. I have been walking 2 miles 3 times a week. I started drinking more water again....I know that I haven't been drinking as much as I should be. I am just very depressed and concerned that I went through drastic measures to lose weight and I am still considered OBESE. I hate that word!! I am hardly eating! Anyways, if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate them. thanks
06/02/04..Wow, what a difference a few weeks make. I am down to 196. 8 lbs just kinda dropped off without me even knowing, until I decided to hop on the scale. I started going to the tanning booth, I am back into my clothes that I was wearing before I got pregnant..16's. I have some 14's that I was almost able to fit into before I got pregnant, so that is my goal right now...to get into those. So, am feeling really good right now. Thanks to all that sent me encourgaging words!!!! : )
08/01/04..Been awhile since I posted last. Still trying to lose weight. 2 years post op and still struggling with weightloss, who would have thought that 2 years ago. Anyways, I think I may have a hernia, not sure though, right around my belly button. Could it be? I plan on going to see my PCM to see if I can get a referral to be followed by a bariatric surgeon in this area. We will see, I am hoping to get a tummy tuck too. Tricare told me that they do not cover it! but everyone I know has had a tummy tuck and they have covered it. so not sure. I am weighing in at 191, 10 lbs to go to be where I was before I got pregnant.
08/04/04..I went to the doctor today and he said he didnt think I had a hernia. He put the referral in for me to see a bariatric surgeon in this area, but I would rather have mine. Well we will see.
09/19/04..Went to the doctor, and no hernia. I am down to 187, so I am still losing, but slowly. Husband is going thru flight school 21 (Army)learning to fly the BlackHawk helicopter. Looks like we might be out of here by January. We are hoping to go to Fort Carson, Colorado. Anyways, my health is fine overall.
09/24/04..I finally posted before/after pics. Just waiting for them to put them on here. Doing fine here, no health problems. still at 187-185. Happy about that wearing a size 14/16 pants, xl top. Better than 28-30's
01/13/05..Happy New Year to everyone!! I am still staying between 184-187. I figure this is wear I will stay until I can get all the excess skin removed from my lower body. You wouldnt believe how much there is!!! We are coming to the end of our time here at Ft. Rucker, AL. We are still waiting to figure out where we are going to go from here. I did by a ball gown for my husband's upcoming graduation from Flight School and it was a size 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never bought a size 12 in anything except underwear and shoes!! So you all know how big I used to be!! LOL
05/30/05.,, We are heading to Fort Bragg, NC in a few weeks. I am excited about it. I wish we were going to Colorado..but oh well. I am still staying at about 185. I really wish I could get smaller. I might look into getting a revision or something once I get to North Carolina. Also plastic surgery...I hope tricare will pay for something. I sent in a new pic to post on here. hopefully in a few more days it will be ready.
06/30/05..We are here in North Carolina. Happy to be back. I am going in tomorrow to see about getting a referral for some plastic surgery!!I hope I get a doctor that won't fight me on it. Still holding about 185.
07/12/05..I am 3 years post op today...and I feel that decision was the best one ever!! I got my referral for plastic surgery from Tricare and will be seeing a civilian provider!! I am anxious to find out exactly what they will cover. I do have to remind myself to take my vitamins 2x daily..my iron level has been really low. So, I have been really trying to eat more iron rich food and my vitamins. will update when I get more info on my surgeon.
12/7/05. I have my plastic surgery consult Jan. 29. I am very excited to find out and get the surgery done. I hate all this excess skin!! weight is still the same. 185
1/21/06. I go this coming Wednesday for my plastic surgery consult. I hope they can take all this excess skin off on my tummy and hip/butt area. I have been experiencing since my surgery a severe pain that wakes me in the middle of the night. It would go away usually within a few mins....it is getting really bad now. It wakes me in the night and It hurts sooo severe that I almost pass out and the pain raidates to my back area. After doing some research on here, I think it may be an ulcer. I have to go get this checked out..cuz I almost called 911 last night!! It is very sporatic, I have tried to monitor what I have eaten or whatever and nothing seems to link it to one thing. So, I will let you all know.
1/25/06. Well I am back from my Plastic Surgery Consult. It went really well. They seem pretty confident that Tricare will pay for my lower body lift...thigh,tummy, butt area. They also submitted to tricare for a breast lift and my arms. They said those 2 things were iffy. But hey it is worth a try. So excited. Now just have to wait for the approval which could take anywhere from 6-8 weeks they said. maybe sooner. Can't wait!!!
04/18/06...Well..I heard from Tricare...and I am sure you guessed it...they denied it, even the tummy tuck. So, I am going to appeal at least the tummy tuck part and if I have to, self pay the thighplasty. I need that soo bad.
03/10/07..I am still struggling with getting plastic surgery. I have also gained weight and can't seem to not gain anymore. My health is ok..still having low iron, low B12 even though I take my mulit vitamin and am now taking B12 shots..even though I thought we didn't have to do. I am up to 198-200 lbs. Which is where my doc wanted me to be in the first place..goal weight was 195. I wanted to stay at 180. I have to continue to watch my sweet tooth...and freakin' girl scout cookies..darn things. Anyways, will try and keep coming back to update every once in a while. good luck to all newbies...and remember it isn't always butterflies and roses after surgery.
07/11/07.. I am now 5 years post op!! I would do it all over again! Best thing I ever did for myself!! I am at my goal weight that my doctor wanted me at. 195 lbs. I always wanted to be smaller...but I am happy where I am at and I feel healthy. He knew what he was doing..LOL
11/18/07.. Just wanted to update. Still doing fine and feel healthy. Still maintaining my goal weight of 195. Best thing I ever did.
09/05/08.. 218 lbs kinda sucks but gotta get back to the basics.

04/07/09. Wow, its been a long time since I have updated. Alot has happened since that last update. I was diagnosed in September 08..later in the month that I had a tumor in my bladder. I went for a CT scan of my stomach because I have still been having intermidant severe stomach pains in the middle of the night. The bariatric surgeon at the Army hospital said everything looked normal regarding my stomach but I needed to be seen by urology because there was a mass on my bladder. After all that, I have urachus adenocarcinoma, had surgery on Nov. 1, 2008 for removal of my urachus, belly button and 20% of my bladder. I thought my stomach pains were from that, but my pains are back and waiting to see the doctor. I am nervous because I have sinced gained more weight..227 lbs now..totally sucks. I am depressed and feel like crap all the time. will post later and hopefully have better news.
05/14/09..Well, my stomach pains never went away after the cancer was removed. I went back and seen a different bariatric surgeon and she ordered an Upper GI, swallow test. That revealed I have 2 fistulas. I had a scope preformed today and she will have to do surgery to repair this and said that my old remnant stomach was full of bile. I don't have my gall bladder anymore, that was taken during my rny surgery. That is what concerns her the most. I go in for repair on June 4th. What freaks me out the most is the surgeon is nervous and concerned. But she say that is why I have been gaining weight. I have no idea how I could have two fistulas and it leaking into my old stomach. The way I thought Dr. Warnock did my surgery that was impossible. Wish me luck...I will post when I can.
05/21/09..Going in on the 4th of June for a revision to fix the two fistulas and the connected stomachs.
06/09/09. Back from the hospital from the RNY revision, repair fistuals and removal of remant stomach. I am doing pretty good, but really sore. I still have the drainage tube in and will go in on the 11th to get that taken out. Everything went well according to my surgeon and I am feeling better each day. The day of my surgery I weighed in at 232. I have lost 6 lbs since then..lol..I guess that stomach wasn't to heavy....hell I was hoping that thing weighed 50 lbs..haha. Oh well...so I am starting all the way back to square one with my diet. I am currently on a full liquid diet till the 14th, then I go to pureed foods for a week. I will keep yall posted. :)
06/11/09...I went today to get my drain tube out. hurt a bit, but happy to have it out. I am one week post op from the revision/repair and have lost 11 lbs. I am sooooo sick of milk based drinks and foods...fustrating. One more day and then I get a few more things added into my diet. Comes with the territory.
06/15/09..I can have mushy foods and seems to be going ok. I am struggling with when to eat and when to drink. I wieghed in at 217...so that is 15 lbs weightloss. I still have to take things slow cuz I get tired out and then my side starts hurting. Its only been a little over a week since I got out of the hospital. I still feel that I am gonna screw this up somehow.
07/04/2009. I am one month post op w/ revision. I am doing pretty good. I weigh 215. Feeling stronger and better. 17 lbs gone in a month.
01/05/10...Long time since I have updated. I am currently 195 lbs. Doing ok since the revision from June. Just have to stick to my iron, b12
