When I was a teenager, my stepmother constantly told me how fat I was (I was a size 12). I spent all my time with a bad body image. Then I started to sneak food. Bad habits we know are hard to break. I was a size 20 when I got married. Then I got immediately got pregnant and gained 57 lbs. Two years later and no weight loss, I got pregnant again.
This time I only gained 27 lbs but I still have it too. Over the years, I pretty much stayed in the 305 lb area. I would go up and down a bit but pretty much always came back to that weight. I tried all kinds of diets. I was very active, playing tennis and softball into my 40's.
Last year my mother was diagnosed with cancer the day before Thanksgiving. I was in and out of hospital with her. I ate all the time and usually not good choices. She passed away in Jan. By my Feb. dr. appointment, I was weighing 337. My mother wanted me to have weight loss surgery but I was scared. After her passing and finding out that I was going to be a grandmother made me decide that this was the most important thing I needed to do.
Like all of you, I had to jump thru the insurance company hoops to get approved. My date was finally set and I had my surgery on Sept, 20, 2010.
