Just another typical story

Hi.  My name is Bette and I am 68 years old.  One of the oldest in this group.   I was not a big kid altho my momn thought so.  When I was 15 I was 5'1" and 120 lbs.  I swapped clothes with friends so was "normal", what ever that means.  But mom was 5'5" and 79 lbs. She thought I was obese so took to me the fat doctor and started me on shots.  After the weekly shot, we would come home and have fried chicken, mashed potatoes and biscuits and gravy.  Yep.  Made no sense.
then I got married and gained a lot with my first baby.  Since that time it has been lose 10 lbs, gain 15.  You know the drill.  Up and up thru the years.  In 1982 I lost 100 lbs with the optifast diet.  Optifast drinks were the only thing we could consume.  The times it didn't get blended enough and had lumps in it was a treat.  Almost like eating.  Of course I ended up in ER and then ICU thinking I had heart problems.  Turned out to be gall bladder problems which I found out later  was very common with those on Optifast.   Had my GB taken out, started eating again and gained back that 100 lbs plus.
So here I am.  After years of diets, shots, pills, hypnosis, accupuncture, etc;  The lapband is my last hope.  I have high expectation for myself.  I can no longer walk more than 25 ft without huffing and puffing and having back pain.  So I sit and watch TV all day and half the night.  Not the way I want to live.
