Third times a charm...
Mar 03, 2013
1st band 5/07 in Mexico. Lost 60 pounds and then had complications. 2nd band 9/09/09 in Utah. Starting weight 178 lbs. Having complications. Now looking into VSG or DS. Trying to make an informed decision. Scared and not sure which one to choose. That is my story in a nut shell. I guess it is a to be continued...
Day 7 - Post Op
Sep 16, 2009
Surgery went well. Today is day 7 and I am down 9 pounds. The good news is that I didn't have slippage, but I did have a lot of scar tissue around the port and band. The doc thinks my body may have been trying to reject the band. He said I have a 50/50 chance of band rejection with this new band. I am feeling good and following the rules.

New band, new doc, new date!
Sep 07, 2009
On 9/9/09 I will be having a new band put in due to slippage. I am happy to be having surgery done in the US. Going to Mexico was great but with the band it is vital to have a doctor that can follow your progress. I am hoping all will go well.

New Band
Aug 18, 2009
I haven't posted since 2007. For the past 8 months to a year I really haven't lost anything and I would pb everyday. I was scheduled to go back to mexico but was able to be seen here in Utah. I opted for Utah because it will definately be more convenient and I will have someone to follow me this time. I am scheduled to be rebanded on Sept. 9. The rebanding still depends on what my doctor finds when he gets inside. My band is around my esophagus right now. I would love to know how it got there. I am looking forward to losing again. I loved my band and I am pretty confident that it will work for me again.

One week post-op!
May 21, 2007
I have made it one week. Except for being a little weak and tired I have had a good week. Last night I had to go to the emergency room. I noticed that the area around my port was getting really puffy. I could actually feel it. Anyways, I have a hematoma and they are hoping it will resolve on its own. I have to rest up another week and no lifting. I was glad it wasn't anything really horrid. I'm looking forward to day 10 and moving on to full liquids. (YUM!)
4 days post surgery!
May 10, 2007
Well I did it! First I have to say that the care I received in Mexicali was awesome. They took great care of me. I banded along with 3 other great gals. We really had a good time together. I had the hardest recovery. Tuesday afternoon I became severely nauseated. The doctor started giving shots of dramamine and finally at 10 p.m. they gave me some ativan. I fell asleep and woke up feeling much better. I am still very weak, but have already lost 8 1/2 pounds. Thanks to everyone for your support.
