Well, here we go. I am almost 3 years out from surgery and it was not easy going. I had such a problem with my insurance and it took 2 years and 3 insurance companies to finally get a date. I was on the state run Medi-cal at the time of surgery and had no problem getting approval. After all the heart ache and stress, I was given a surgery date of Aug 9 2004. My surgeon was actually Dr Elliott in Santa Rosa Ca. (He was not on the list so I picked a local Dr I know from the hospital here in Eureka.) Dr Elliott mad a new policy that every patient had to loss 15% or 15 pounds before surgery or they could not have it done. He told me this 1 month pre-op! I told him I would do it and don't change the date. At this time I started a new job and already asked for the time off. I was afraid I would get in trouble with my new job if I had to ask for different dates. I was at 380 lbs at my highest weight. I was able to go on a crash liquid diet and loose the wieght bafore my surgery. I weighed in at the hospital at 365 lbs. (I didn't even have cake on my b-day july 31!) Everything went as planned. I lost 75 lbs in the first 3 months. I was doing extremely well. I started eating more foods but I could not eat as much. I got down to 245 which was a 135 lb weight loss! Pretty not bad. Thats when everything started going back to the way it was. I found that I could not eat unless I drank something with it. I began eating more and found myself snacking on not so disirable foods. I was eating more fried foods. I still could not eat a lot of sugar but I would try to push it. I ended up gaining to what I am now 275 lbs. I felt like a falure. I started watching what I eat more and trying a little harder. I haven't gained anymore, but now I'm having a problem getting the weight off again. If anyone has any helpful hints, I will gladly take them. I also have a lot of ecsess skin around my mid section I need to have removed. I constantly have skin rashes. Thanks so much for listening. ;)
