I need a postive relationship story!!!

Ok, so this is my first blog entry..... I only began this process in January 2011 with a regular visit to my doctor. She suggested the surgery; I took a few weeks to think about it and called her back to ask her to go ahead with the referral. I was stunned to get paperwork from the hospital so fast!! It was now the end of February and they were offering sessions for March. Now I am due to hear back for the next step soon. I am looking forward to the whole process, I know it will be difficult on me and those around me. There are so many changes to make and learn from.
This is my dilemma:
My boyfriend joined me on the first information meeting. He is worrying about losing me.... not just the potential hazards associated with the surgery but how it affects so many relationships. We have a strong bond, but still, reality seems to be that many relationships don't survive!!
Can any of you out there who have either gone through the surgery or are still waiting, give me hope that not all relationships are DOOMED?!?!?
