Hello Nichole! Congrats on your RNY surgery! How are you doing post operatively? I hope all is going well. I read some of your words on obesityhelp and see that you are down more than 48 pounds now! I think you're off to an excellent start and more losing is to come! I also wanted to let you know that we have a WLS meeting in Monroe on the 3rd WED of every month from 7p-9p at the Frenchtown Dixie Branch Library off Nadeau Rd. All WLS patients (any surgery type/surgeon) and support persons are welcome! We have a few Dr. Pesta patients as well. It's an informal meeting, but it's so much fun getting together with other WLS friends and sharing our experiences. I hope you'll join us. Also, if you ever need a WLS friend, I'm here! Just send an email! Hugs and Blessings~

OK, it is now 8/17/04 and I am down 43 pounds and 9 weeks post-op. I am very excited about this and am looking forward to losing more! However, I am still suffering with food. Not the cravings or hunger pains any more, now it is what will stay down. I just rather not eat than eat and get sick. I am just now able to eat chicken. This took quite some time. I cannot stand protein shakes, so this is also making for some difficulties. Oh well, I keep pushing on. I'll keep the updates coming.

Well, I went to the doctor on Tuesday, one week and a day after surgery. According to thier records I had lost 19 pounds and was doing great. Although I feel like I am starving to death and in still mild/medium pain, I am good. I wish I could see some kind of instant results, because I find myself asking "why did I do this?" sometimes. I can't tell I've lost anything and it's been almost two weeks. I feel like I'm doing this for nothing. Oh well, I just must have the blues today. I want to go and buy a scale today, maybe then if I can see the numbers it will help. Thanks for listening! Nichole

Hello everyone! Well, surgery went great one week ago today. I was only in the hospital for 2 1/2 days and went home feeling great. However, once my epideral wore off, things got much more uncomfortable. I had two days from hell Thursday and Friday. By Saturday early morning, I had turned a corner. I am able to walk, and even went to see Garfield this weekend. The thing that hurts the worst is the drain tube. That is supposed to come out tomorrow. I hope it does, however, I still am having drainage. We will see. That just drags on my skin and really hurts. Well, I don't know if I've lost any weight, as I don't have a scale. I'll weigh in at the doc's tomorrow. I'll send another update. God bless all of you who sent me warm wishes. It did not go unnoticed. I would love to thank each of you personally, but you know who you are. Thank You. Nichole

Hi Nichole! Congrats on having your surgery! Let the weight loss begin!! I bet you feel relieved now. It's over and now you are on the other side and can join the ranks of the losers. Welcome, my friend!!! Happy RE-Birthday to you! From this day forward you life will change forever. Just try to take it easy and remember to sip, walk, deep breathe and cough. Take those pain pills and splint the tummy! These first few days are rough, but I assure you they get better with each passing day. Some days those emotions will resurface and try to get the best of you, but just remember what you’ve been through to get this far! I’m sure you’ll be proud of what you’ve accomplished so far. You know you can always come here and get a dose of confidence and good will! We will still be here to support you and cheer you on as the pounds come off! I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you today and that you are in my thoughts and prayers for an uncomplicated, swift recovery. You are an official loser!! Wishing you much success in your weight-loss journey. Soft hugs to you today. God bless, DI from NJ - Lap RNY, 12/09/03 -52 lbs *In Loving Memory of Momma Angel*
