268....Getting there....

Jun 15, 2008

I know...it's been awhile. I am happy ....but my weight loss has stalled. I was ahead of schedule...according to Kevin at my last fill...which was May 5th. I was happy about that. Then, I went on a Disney Cruise...May 29-June 2nd. I didnt eat nearly like I used to but over-ate a little. Well, then I caught a cold and have been sick for 2 weeks. I havent been to the gym now in 3 weeks and I can tell. I havent lost anything....I should be happy that I didnt gain anything on the cruise...which I am...but it is back to the gym on Monday. People at work are really nice...they comment all the time about how great I am looking. I do feel good. I have posted a new picture....of me on the cruise. Pray for me....I need to start losing again. I know I will.....

286 and lovin' it!

I had my first fill last Monday (1 week ago) and also went to my first support group meeting. Everyone seems nice--although I am the only Band-ster at the meeting- everyone else had RNY.  I have lost a bit more now so I am feeling good about it. People at work are saying things, which is really cool. I havent bought any new clothes. I am not going to--at least not yet.  I hope everyone else is doing well too. I promise to log on here more often and update it. I have been a slacker lately!  Love to all!

Under 300!!!!!

Feb 24, 2008

Okay...I have been a bit delayed in updating my blog for about a week--sorry! Once I got home to my own house--I just started cleaning out papers and shredding things and organizing scrapbook stuff. I even scrapbooked my WLS. Anyway...here's what's happened so far....

Last Tuesday, 2/19- I went to Dr Jawad's in Ocala and saw Kevin. He removed my staples. I took one of my best friends-Bob-with me- he is a saint and he drove me there. It didnt hurt Like I anticipated so that was good. My bruising is subsiding and my incision where my port is -is a little troublesome. It it in a place where I sweat and it is not healing as fast as I would like. Kevin said to keep gauze and some neosporin on it-so that's what I am doing. I wasnt sure if I was ready to go back to work so Kevin recommended that if I had enough sick time, to rest for one more week----so I go back to work tomorrow.  (and now I am definitely ready--I am bored!)

The other day, one of my other best friends, Alexis came over and we went on the treadmill. I did 1 mile- 30 mins.  I felt pretty good about it and need to get on there again!

Speaking of feeling good???? I weighed myself yesterday. I now weigh under 300 pounds- 299 to be exact. So...since surgery, I have lost 16 pounds in 2 weeks. Since the beginning of January (after those caloric holidays), I have lost 24 pounds--GO ME!!!

TTYL!

Nicole

3 Days Post Op

Feb 14, 2008

Hello faithful readers!  It is 3 days post-op. One more day until I can eat full liquids---I have a sugar free chocolate pudding calling my name. Last night's "dinner"was the broth that was left in the crock pot after my step-mom, Beccy made a roast. It was pretty good. I only drink about 1/2 cup at a time because I am just not hungry. Yesteray we got a great deal at Macy's on a Kitchenaid Food Processor. My step-mom has been really great. We have been preparing for the stage that is two weeks away now--where I eat "baby food" and pureed food. We have processed beef, pork, chicken, broccoli & cheese, peas, mushrooms & garlic, and brussel sprouts with garlic--all frozen in little ice cube trays since that is about all I will be able to eat...one little ice cube size of a meat and a veggie at one meal. So---yesterday I got a little nauseous and had to take some medicine. I think it is because I wasnt drinking enough. I am ok now and I have been trying to sip on water as much as possible. My incisions bled a bit overnight. I have heard this is normal because the staples are in there. I also have a lot of bruising around the incisions--which looks very gross. I have decided not to post any gory pictures on the site because I dont want to scare anyone. TTYL!  TTFN!

I made it through...all about the surgery (The day after)

Feb 13, 2008

Hello everyone! I am in a bit more pain than I expected but the Lortab is working quite well. Everyone at the hospital was wonderful. The nurses were so nice...expecially Gina and Shannon.  When I arrived, they prepped me and I went into surgery at 8 am. The anesthesiologist (I think his name was Joe) was great. I had a tube down my throat which has made me very hoarse ( I have a Kathleen Turner sexy voice now). The only aggravating thing is that they wouldnt let me leave until I peed! I was so dehydrated that it took me almost one whole bag of fluids and 3 hours before I peed..although I tried and tried many times. Today is just the day after and I went to publix with my step-mom and walked around a bit. I couldnt make it through the whole store but I walked through half of it and then sat down on the bench. I was just too tired and groggy from the medicine to do the whole store. We got some special K protein water because the chicken broth is getting kinda boring to drink. I have five incisions. I took pictures which I will post on this site pretty soon. The one where my port is hurts the worst. I only felt nauseated when they gave me the morphine in the hospital and I have not felt any sickness since. I have had a LOT of gas though. I have to stand up every few hours so that I can burp it out because it hurts A LOT...more than the incisions sometimes. It feels like a big weight on my chest...but dad thinks my burps sound pretty good. My friends Alexis and Gina sent flowers to my dad's house today- a Nice surprise. I love flowers!!!  Well...I will write more tomorrow. We are going to the store to buy me a "get well gift" - a food processor- YAY!!!

Tomorrow is the Day!!

Feb 10, 2008

Im ready!! I'm ready!!  The Pre-op diet has been fine. I got used to the shakes and they are not as bad as I originally thought. I have been so not-hungry that I have lost 13 pounds already-just in these 2 weeks. I packed my bag for my recovery days and my laptop and sent it with my step-mom last night. My family came over from Tampa to take me to Outback last night since today is just water and chicken broth-yuck! I am first tomorrow....surgery is at 8:30 am at Ocala Regional Medical Center. I completed pre-op last Thursday--lots of tests. All is good. I will update everyone tomorrow (if I feel ok). Thanks for all the nice messages.

Pre-Op Diet

Feb 02, 2008

It has been 5 days now on the Pre-Op diet. 2 Atkins shakes per day and a "atkins-type" dinner. Bob made me a beef filet tonight which was nice. The shakes are "so-so". I have already lost 5 pounds just on these shakes! I know it is all water weight so I drank 64 oz of water today to keep me hydrated (and keep me full!). The shakes are leaving this gritty residue on my teeth- yuck!
