6 Days Post Op of Revision from RNY to SIPS

Mar 22, 2015

I'm doing pretty good. I'm down little over 5lbs since surgery (3/16/15). My gas pain is getting better, but I am still quite tender/sore, especially where my larger incision is. Dr. Enochs removed a large portion of my stomach through that incision. As of right now I am very happy in my choice of weight loss surgery. It was very disappointing that the RNY did not work out for me. My identical twin sister had RNY a year before me and has done great! But everyone is built/made differently and responds differently to surgery.

With the RNY I lost about a 100lbs within 8 months post op. Weight loss was not the problem, hernias and ulcers were. I ended up with 2 hernia repairs and a very large marginal ulcer that would not heal. I never was able to eat normally without pain or vomiting. Dr Enochs is still not sure as to why I am having complications. It could be from the trauma of having the second hernia repair or maybe something in the intestine that's connected to the gastric pouch. We were worried that if I had the RNY redone that I may still be prone to hernias and ulcers.

Thank you for reading. I will try to keep this blog updated.
