Hi All, I am back from my journey! They kept me an extra day as the anesthesia just totally threw me for a loop, and I'm still very groggy, even after being off pain meds for more than 48 hours. I guess the anesthesia just does different things to different people. I have to admit, I didn't think I would be in so much pain day 2-3 after surgery, but things are much better now. I had a few really really BAD episodes with some of the hospital people, including being BANGED up against a wall TWICE hard after surgery by the x-ray team who did my leak test. I basically cussed them out and asked them if they were trying to kill me, and if so I would just get up off the damn stretcher and walk back to ICU, and I meant it! I have to say, Durham Regional's staff sucks big time. The nurses are not educated enough about our surgery, and I hated that. They kept trying to force the Boost on me, even though I kept telling them I had my Whey Stack with me, and I didn't want Boost, finally Dr. Mcmahon told them to leave me be, I could drink whatever I had on hand, as I knew what I was doing. Had lots of Gas that would not move in the hospital, finally did today, I have been walking tons, and taking sips of water, and protein. Have lost 5lbs in 5 days. Just waiting for the healing to begin, and damn do I want a burger..lol but I know what is best for me, and will follow the instructions to the letter. Prayers going up to all who are struggling with tests/insurance, and those who are having a hard time with the after journey. Thanks so all who called and expressed their well wishes. I guess it was better that no one came to see me as I could barely keep my eyes open most of the time there. Will update in a few days..blessings on you..

Hi beautiful ones! Only less than 24 hours till I join you all on the losing side! My surgery is at 2pm tomorrow. I met with one of the Priests from my Episcopalian church today, and I was crying before the door of her office closed. I guess I have been more nervous than I thought. I met my parents who live an hour away and gave my 3 daughters to them to watch while I'm in the hospital, and that was HARD>my 8 year old twin girls hugged me and said they would be praying for me, and it was especially hard to let go of my 15 month old daughter. She has only been away from me twice, and that was while I was having my sleep apnea tests. I will miss all of them, as they won't be up to visit during my hospital stay as it is too far away. I hope you all will pray for me to come through this complication free, I want to thank my beautiful daughters and my wonderful husband, Chris for being so supportive of me, and loving me no matter what. Especially since everone in my family, parents included think I'm "pathetic" to have to have surgery to fix what I have done to myself. They think I'm being selfish for having surgery, and not thinking of my children, when in fact they are a big reason I decided to have this in the first place. I want to be here for them when they marry and have children of their own, and now I will be healthy. God bless to all having surgery, and those struggling with insurance approval, you will be in my prayers!

Jenn, you are in my prayers. Those three little girls need their Mommy and I pray God will make sure you're around to see them grow up. You will be healthy and thinner and able to do so much more with them after this surgery! God bless you in this courageous step. Ruth S
