Hey There :) Ok so I've finally found sometime in my busy schedule to actually add to my profile :) My name is Nicole, but everyone usually calls me Nikki. I'm 29 years old. I live 20 mins outside of Boston Ma. I am a single mom to a wonderful 5 year old little boy who is my life. I live with him and my mom for now. I have a great group of close friend. I started my journey to WLS June 25th. I have all my appointments booked and hope by Aug 19th ( my last required appt) I will be given a date for surgery, or atleast the papers submitted!!! The downside :( I start school in september, so I may have to wait til my winter break to have surgery.... I'm a full time student, hoping to become a radiology technician specializing in radiation therapy for cancer patients. I lost my dad almost 2 yrs ago to lung cancer. He was only 62 and my best friend. His death although still heartbreaking everyday, has inspired me to go to school so I can help others that are suffering like he once was, even if I only accomplish making them feel more at ease, I'll know I've done my job.
I 've battled with my weight since i can remember. I was always the chubby girl and by the time I was 12 obese was a regular adjective to describe me on all my Dr's forms. I've tried all the diets out there, I have success, but usually only 20lbs of success then that's it. I suffer from degenerative disc disease, and have had 3 spinal surgeries since i was 22. My spine is very weak, and I need the weight off so when the day comes that i need a spinal fusion, I won't be faced with the obsticale of being morbidly obese. ( they won't fuse your spine unless your "normal" size) So many other co morbidities run in my family and I've decided I'm heading them off before they happen to me. I'm done living this life and ready to begin my new life... the one i've always meant to live !!!!!!
I've been very inspired by everyone's success stories on here and look forward to adding to mine and making new friends here :) :) :)
