"I met with a doctor in IL on May 16, he was very professional. The thing that bothered me about this gentleman was his uncanny impersonation of a robot. It seemed to me that he was so used to rattling off the same speech he had no emotion. This really bothered me. Don't get me wrong he answered my questions and he was somewhat caring but he wasn't what I expected after reading about other people's doctors. His staff was wonderful yet seemed hurried. Having health care training I was a little insulted and upset. They were so hurried infact that I'm not even sure which of two doctors I talked to. I am waiting to here back from them and my insurance company. I'm hoping that they were just having a bad day because I overheard the staff talking about several patients who either missed their appts. or were running really late. Although my experience wasn't the greatest I am looking forward to returning. The doctor was very understanding of my fears and did answer my questions. He went over every risk that he and I could think of. As for the postop care I was given an address and two phone numbers of people in my area who have a support group and was given the oppurtunity to go to the meetings early, which I plan of taking advantage of not only for myself, but for my family. Plus I'd like to get other people's impression of this doctor's operating and postop care and attitude. I did appreciate his honesty,(he said he would not operate on me unless I was 3-4 weeks smoke free.) Overall I rate this doctor very professional and honest which is respectful, but I really feel bedside manner is important."
