Surprised

Apr 24, 2009

So, I brought the idea of weight loss surgery to my pyschatrist who obviously has a major say in if this gets done, how and what.  A year ago, I brought it up at that time my bipolar was running a muck and I was manic binging in the middle of the night.  Well thank God now I am stable through better chemistry and I have also stopped manic binging.  This is not to say I am not a big eater, then I wouldnt be on this site and looking for help.  But anywho.... I brought it up to him at our last session and he was EXTREMELY supportive and agreeable to this and actually said he was thinking about it for me himself.  Since he is an eating disorder specialist he rarely approves people for WLS since it can be dangerous for them since of the behaviors that are engaged in but I got the ok.  It felt like getting approved on Can I Afford It on Suze Orman :)LOL  I am excited about this!!!  Now to the next step getting all my medical ducks in order and my appointment with the surgeon.  The 2 I am seeing are Dr. Alfons Pomp from Columbia Cornell and the team at Columbia Presbyterian in NYC any one have exprience with either.  Doing some comparison shopping!  Thanks for all the advice.
