UMass Memorial

"Because I sleep with a CPAP, my hospital required me to spend the night in the recovery room. The nurses and aides were wonderful there, but it is too bright and too noisy to sleep. The next day I was moved into a room where I did sleep a little better. Nurses and aides make a big difference in your stay. One night I had really good ones, another night not so good (It was as if the aide didn't want to touch me). I'm sure the doctor gives them orders to take vitals, but I sure wish they could try to do that when you're awake. All-in-all, it was a pretty good experience. I'd go there again."

Donald Czerniach

"My very first impression of Dr. Czerniach is that he makes an attempt to really know your story. He initiated the discussion about my CPAP machine and congratulated me on being smoke-free for 6 years--without my mentioning either of those things. He really read my history and took in my information, even though he had been up until 3:00 am the night before with a patient. His knowledge of the procedure, the program afterwards, and how patients cope with the changes this surgery brings is top-notch. I have every confidence in him."
