I was so upset when Tricare denied my request for surgery coverage. I battled on though. I wrote my appeal letter and after waiting a few weeks for my PCM to finally write an appeal letter on my behalf sent everything off to Tricare. I was so excited when I found out that they reversed their decision and approved me!!! I am having my pre op stuff on Jan. 15th and surgery is on the 28th!!! A new me for the new year, cant think of a better way to get the year started!!

I had my psych eval this moring. She said all seemed ok for me to proceed with the surgery. She then told me it could take two weeks for the bariatric center to call me and make an appointment to see the surgeon. Well, I got a phone call from Lisa early this afternoon to make my appointment!! I could not believe it. I meet with the surgeon (Dr. Morgan) next tues at 10:00. Then it is on to insurance. I am really getting excited now!!!

Well, one more hoop jumped through!! The dietician at my surgry center called yesterday for my phone interview. We set some goals for my diet between now and the surgery. She also made my appointment for my psych eval. I go that on Tues. the 30th. Just one more step closer to a new me!!!

I went to my mandatory nutrition class yesterday. It was informative. I was looking forward to it, because I felt that is where my lack of knowledge was most great. I fell a lot better about that part now. I talked with the dietician and she is going to look for my name in the packets today and if she can she will call me for my phone interview. I hope she can.  I am going out of town this weekend. It is my niece's 4th birthday. We have not been home in a few months so it will be good to see everyone.

My hubby and I attended the seminar at MUSC last night. It was good. I pretty much knew what to expect, I was just happy to finally be doing something productive. I picked up my information packet. I filled it out and mailed it off this morning with my program fee. Now I have to wait for the dietician to call me for my phone interview. I am so petrified that the docs or the insurance company are going to say that I am not heavy enough or sick enough for the surgery. I meet the requirements, though just barely. I do not want to wait until my health starts to really suffer.  I want to get healthy!!!!

Well here we are, another Monday. I have my big seminar tomorrow night. I have watched the online version of this seminar already, and I am looking forward to hearing it again. I am so excited to finally getting started on all the appointments. I still have so many to go!. I hate that MUSC has redone their program, an all day appt for everything would have been nice. Oh well, I guess they had their reasons.

Well, here I am at the starting line for a new life. I have obtained a referral to Dr Morgan at MUSC from the doc on the base and tricare approved the office consult. I have registered for the mandatory seminar, which they told me there was not an opening until Dec. But Lisa from MUSC called yesterday and told me to come Oct. 16th and she would sign me in. YEAH!! I have had some great messages from people on here already!! I am so excited and nervous about all of this. I am looking for some support groups so that I can attend some meetings as things move along. Any and all information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have wonderful support from my family, but support from people who have been there done that is invaluable.
