First Post, New Here

Oct 01, 2013

Hi everyone, not really sure what to say but I figured i'd try this little community out... I have bypass surgery on September 18th 2013 while being 356 pounds (9 pounds shy of my highest weight ever)...My first post op appointment was September 24th and I lost 17 pounds. My second post op appointment on September 26th I lost 5  more pounds bringing me down to 334...I had my staples removed that day and all of them except the one large one on my far left side came out fine.. it definitely wasn't ready to be taken out yet and I have been bandaged up since letting it drain.. changing it every day or 2. They say it should be healed in about another week or so but it's definitely a complication i'm annoyed with and that I wasn't really informed about. It's something I feel that could have been avoided.. I do enjoy the team for the most part at my surgeons office but at the same time I feel they've been careless in some areas to be honest. Maybe I'm  just over thinking this situation .. I guess part of the reason I am posting here is to see if someone else went through a similar thing. My next appointment is this Thursday the 3rd and then i am going to a support group after. I do have a friend who got the same procedure I did 9 days prior to my procedure so it's nice to have someone to go through that with. She's having a hard time with it though as am I... I feel like you can try to prepare yourself all you want for it but can you really ever be fully mentally prepared? To be honest I lost all my vices like over night for the most part (Cigarettes i stopped awhile prior to surgery) , then to lose food and wine at the same time, lol, it may sound silly but it's very hard. I take things one day at a time and try to remember I did this all for a reason.  Well I guess that's all I have to say for now.
