Post-op RNY and Herniated small bowel obstruction

I've returned home since last Thursday, October 13, 10 days after going into hosp for RNY (10/3). Everything went well, and then on the Oct 6, I was being infused with IV fluids and also tolerating liquids on Stage 2 of the diet.... and then it happened I started getting hypervolemic (too much water), the surgeon ordered a cat scan and it reveiled that I had a herniated small bowel obstruction. If i had any idea that I would have experienced this (being in the 10% pool) I would have opted the for the open RNY procedure not lap. Went back to operating room that night for emergency surgery on Oct 6 and spent the next day in ICU, it was just so unbearable, finally they moved me back to the floor. I spent 10 days in the hospital and as I said before if I knew or had any idea I would have done it as an open procedure. So far, so good now. I am looking forward to the rest of my life being a lot less eventful. Thanks to everyone out there that came and supported me while I was in the hospital and for all the calls I received. Hello everyone, i'm so excited. I saw the surgeon last week Wednesday and got my surgery date. I'm awaiting insurance approval. Surgery date is set for Oct 3. will keep u posted
