I was overweight as a young girl but did lose weight when I hit my middle teens & even kept it off right through the divorce of my first husband.  However, in 1983 I started putting the weight back on & when I met my second husband on Dec. 18th of 1983 I was back up to 150#.

After we were married 5 years I had a nervous breakdown which rentered me disabled. My psychiatrist diagnosed me as clinically depressed & bi-polar & put me on a lot of heavy duty medication which made me gain & gain.  After thinking I would never lose the weight & feeling so badly about myself I decided why not just keep on eating!  That senerio put on over 100# on me & by the end of the 90's I was almost 300#.

Then something wonderful happened...my husband wanted to know if I would be willing to relocate & retire in the state of Pa.  We were living in Cold Spring Harbor, NY which is on Long Island.  I jumped at the chance to move but when we finally got to PA I learned that I was a little under 300# and felt so ashamed & mortalized by how I looked.

I decided I wanted to change how I felt & looked so I forced myself to get down to 278#.  In March of 2006 I also decided enough is enough & I went to see the doctors at Geisinger Hospital in Danville, Pa.  I weighed in as 253# at the end of March & started my long journey to gastric by pass "RNY".  It was a very long haul as I had to lose 8% of my body weight before the surgery.  I only need to lose 8% instead of 10% because I also had to quit smoking which by the way was no easy feat.

I did everything they told me to do & yes I did quit smoking & then I learned that the surgery would be Sept. 26th, 2006.  Before I entered the hospital I ate everything in site which for me meant "all the chocolate I could get my hands on, not to mention popcorn.

The surgery went very well & I had no complications..thank God!  I was released from the hospital on Oct. 1st & I was 247#.

I did very well until Thanksgiving & then I was unable to eat solid foods.  I was supposed to start eating solid food in the middle of November; something I have learned is not done in all hospitals.

I slowly started eating solid foods & had no problems until December.  At that time I had stopped eating all solid foods as they just wouldn't go down.  I never vomited though I was very ill when I tried to get the food down.  The doctor prescribed "Previcid" for me & it worked.

I saw the surgeon at the end of January 2007 & he told me to stop the Previcid & to buy Tagament instead.  However the Tagament never worked & so I have returned to not being able to eat any kind of solid food, nor can I drink any water.

I called the hospital again today and another doctor (not my surgeon) Dr. Wenn told me that I must be on Previcid at least 4 months post-op! Dah...then why did my surgeon tell me not to take it or even liquid Zantac!

All I am able to eat at the present time is oatmeal.  Everyone says you should eat slowly.  How slowly is cutting your food into baby sized pieces??

Guess I'll be calling Dr. Wenn again tomorrow (2/16/07) as I truly feel something is wrong.

In December of '06 they did an endoscopy on me & it was negative but I'm positive something is totally wrong inside.  I also have severe back pain with the severe stomach pain.

Oh well, tomorrow is another day!
