I am 32 and married to a wonderful husband that is very supportive of my decision with WLS. He loves me just the way that I am but wants me to healthy and happy. I have had weight problems all my life and also female problems since I was 18 months old. After 4 surgeries, I am unable to have children. I think the weight problem is due to hormones, thyroid, and the fact of dealing with having a hysterectomy at the age of 28. I do not have a problem with my confidence or appearance. My husband and I love to go to karaoke and sing. I am outgoing and love having fun with friends. I have no problems getting up in front of crowds to sing. I have contacted a doctor and I have a consult scheduled on 04/30/03 with Dr. Babineau in Tyler. I have BCBS federal plan so I think that I will be approved.

04/15/03 Two more weeks til my consult with Dr. B. I am so excited. I went to see my PCP and he was very supportive of my decision and said that he would help in any way that he could if I needed referals for any pre-op test. I was really nervous talking to him about it because I thought that he might be negative about it but he wasn't. My husband, family, and friends are supportive about my decision to have WLS. Even though I haven't had a consult, I have made my mind up to have this done. I want to be healthy and active while I am still young. I want to learn to rollerblade, be able to fit into the rides better at Six Flags, be able to go to restaurants and fit into a booth instead of asking for a table. I would love to be able to walk into a store and not have to go to the plus sizes. There are several stores that have large sizes but I still cant find anything to fit because they only go up to a 24W. Just in the last year I have been in a size 26/28. I miss the days of buying a 24 and it being a little big on me. I have lots of pretty clothes that I can't wear and I refuse to get rid of them right now. I could lose 20-30 lbs and be able to wear them again. I do look forward to the days when all of them will be too big for me.

04/28/03 Hello everyone!!! I am packing to go to Tyler tonight so I can go to my consult on Wed. I am so excited...I have so many things that I want to ask and talk about when I meet Dr. B. I am also wondering what pre-op test that he is going to want me to have. I hope that my wait for surgery goes as quick as the consult date has. I doubt it will though. I am hoping to have surgery in July or August. Thanks to all for the support and to those who have e-mailed me. hugs and prayers to all.

04/30/03 I HAVE A DATE!!!!! July 25, 2003 YEAH!!!!!
The consult with Dr. B. went great.

05/02/03 I have started preparing for surgery already. I didn't drink any sodas yesterday. I made it a point to not drink when I ate. I drank two bottles of water also. I know that some people would be eating and drinking everything they can before wls but I am preparing myself for a different life starting now. I would like to lose some weight before my surgery. When I got home I showed the packet to my husband and explained things to him more and he says that he feels alot more comfortable about this decision.

05/05/03 I have an appointment on 05/07 with my PCP to have my thyroid rechecked. Also, I am glad to say that it has been five days since I drank sodas. YEAH!!!

05/09/03 I went to the dr on wed and I lost 3 lbs in one week just by cutting out sodas. Wow, I am so motivated to try and lose as much as I can before my surgery. I want to get a head start and I'm sure Dr. B. would appreciate it. lol Also, my thyroid levels were off and my dr increased my synthroid for the 3rd time since last July. Hope it helps.

05/15/03 Well it has been 2 weeks since I have had soda. I thought that I would be climbing the walls by now. I don't even have a craving for them. My husband bought a 12-pack of Root Beer and I am not even tempted to drink any. I hope all the other things are as easy to give up. I was glad to read about someone that has been able to eat chicken fajita meat. That is something that I do love. I love mexican food. I don't like mexican rice and don't eat much of the beans but I love chicken quesadillas. They are my favorite. I bought some blue bell sugar free ice cream in a pint but haven't been brave enough to try it yet. lol. We'll see....

05/16/03 I got my pre-cert letter in the mail today. Wow, it's really starting to sink in that I am gonna do this but I am still ready for it. I drank 64 oz of water today, which I don't usually do. Just some of the changes that I have been making already. I tried the S/F ice cream today and it really was good.

05/21/03 Not much new with me. I am still drinking 64 oz a day and still soda free. Can't believe how long it has been since I had a Dr. Pepper. I have lost a little but not sure how much. I don't have any scales. I am not going to buy any until I am post-op. I know I will obsess over it daily if I buy them any sooner. My husband is starting a new job next week. Better pay and overtime hours. We are going to have a 3-day weekend together starting today. Not sure what we'll do. My niece, that is is in the Air Force, is coming to visit next weekend. My nephew is flying in from Seattle and my parents will be here also. Needless to say, we are having a BBQ and all the trimmings. I told my mom that this will probably be the last time that I get to eat her BBQ, including a peanut butter cake. YUM

06/04/03 Well, the weekend is over and let me tell you it was greaat. We all played water volleyball for 3 hours. Got sun burned. ouch. I was so sore the next day. But, it was a blast. I talked to my niece and nephew about WLS and they were very supportive and wanted to know exactly what would be done. I actually showed them my wls packet that the dr. gave me. I was glad that they understood and weren't negative about it.

06/15/03 Wow cant believe how long it has been since I posted here. Not much to say other than "Is it July 25th yet?"

06/18/03 Not been a good week. My husband got laid off from work yesterday. He quit a full time job to go to work at Dell Computers and then was laid off after 2 weeks. He did get a call today for an interview for another job. Cross your fingers that he gets it. We were getting ready to go to a friends house and I couldn't find anything to wear that was cool for this heat. I was so frustrated and screamed "I am so tired of being fat, ugh" Of course, my honey was being so sweet and patient with me while I was getting ready. He said "It won't be long and you will be able to wear all of your clothes again." What would I do without him and his support?

Not much new going on with me other than counting the days. I go to Tyler on July 17th for my pre-op visit with Dr. B. and PAT at ETMC. Get it all done in one day. I will be in Tyler for 5 days visiting with family and friends.
I have never talked about my job before but I am a Federal Screener at the airport in Austin. I have been there since 8/02. Its interesting meeting alot of different people. Guess who I met yesterday???? Matthew McConaughey. woohoo!!! Made my day. I go this autograph too. He is such a cutie. I have met a few others there too. Steve Zahn, Elijah Woods, ZZ Top, Carson Daly, Dan Rathers, Gene Simmons. just to name a few. I know that others have came thru but missed them. You never know who you will see from one day to the next. I can't wait to have 3 weeks off. I have also been told that I will be able to go back to work on light duty for 3-4 weeks after my surgery. I have told alot of my co-workers and everyone has been super supportive. They can't wait to start seeing the transformation. No pressure there. lol

05/04/03 Happy 4th of July to everyone.
We went to my in-laws house lastnight. It was my mother in law's birthday. We had some awesome hamburgers and cake. I pigged out. What the heck, it was a special ocassion. I went to my PCP yesterday morning to have my thyroid re-checked. I lost 3lbs. WOOHOO. Thats a total of 6 lbs lost. I know its not alot but its less that I have to lose after my surgery. Also, my husband is going back to work at the airport. He got his old job back and a $1 raise. That will help a bunch.
