Where to start :)

Jan 24, 2011

I had RNY back in March of 2004. I was 350 pounds and was in need to live my life. The only great thing is that I was 23 and did not have very many co-morbity's. I had my RNY with the Grinnell office in Iowa. At the time I lived over 3 1/2 hours away up on the boarder of Iowa/Minn. So going to appt was kinda hard with a 3 year old and going to college.

I went back to the Grinnell office a few times for checkups. The surgeon that did my RNY only sugested that I take a multi vitaimin and water. When I went back for my 6 month appt. I had lost only 68 pounds. I might have lost 15 more pounds on top of that but never really weight myself.
A year after my surgery I moved to Des Moines with my sole mate and my son. Started a new job after graduating college and started a new life. After a few years we got married and I started to notice I was gaining slowly.
By 2010 I was really gaining. Went to see my regular doctor (who knows nothing about WLS) and I was back up to pre surgery weight.

Fall of 2010 I started to feel different. My knee's where starting to bother me when walking up stairs. I am getting tired really easily, bowels making a lot of noise, vomiting almost after any meal.
Went to my regular doctor and spoke to her about my issues and how I was thinking maybe I should get a revision or see what is going on in there. She was no hope.
I finally decided to give the Grinnell office a call and see if I can see a surgeon about my issues.
They first had me do a vitamin labs. Then talked about how a revision would be great but they wanted to see what was really going on in there. Plus I had a very large hernia that needed to be fixed.
Got my labs back and they were not that great, needed to get B12 shots once a month and start taking D, calcium, D3 and botin. Now taking about 12 pills a day, split up through out the day.
In the time that I saw the surgeon and now I have decided to get a DS and see Dr.Anthone in Omaha. He is great with DS and I was told he could do revisions but it is a case by case.
I got an appointment setup with his office and we talked about the ups and downs I had have and what surgery options I could have per my issues.
He suggested I have a Erny with a common channel of 100, a panni removal, and a hernia repaired.
Had a CAT scan and it was documented the hernia, had a Upper GI and things look somewhat ok, they said they didnt like how slow the barium was moving into the intestin. But my pouch looks ok size for how far out I am.

As of yesterday insurance has my pre cert and we will see if we get approved for surgery. I really want this surgery and to be over with before spring hits. Wish me luck
