3 and a half months post-op
Mar 29, 2012
I figure it's time to update this.I am 3 and a half months post-op. I've lost 60lbs so far and have gone from a size 24W-18.
I didn't have any co-morbities going into surgery, but I did suffer from benign intercranial hypertension.
Pre-op I experienced massive headaches and blurry vision. I went to see my eye doctor and she referred me to an eye surgeon. My optic nerves had become swollen due to a buildup of spinal fluid not draining properly. I had to have numerous spinal taps to reduce the fluid buildup and to control the headaches. I was told that I had benign intercranial hypertension and the main group of people who get it are overweight/obese women between 18-40. I was told that weight loss is the number one way to help reduce the symptoms. I'm 3 months post-op now and have noticed a decline in the severity of my headaches. I went back to my eye doctor recently and the swelling of the optic nerve has gone down, but my eyesight has been damaged permanently and I now need to wear glasses.
