Weight Loss

May 29, 2015

It is now almost nine months since I had my surgery and I am doing good. Before surgery I was at 288 and now I am at 217. I feel the weight is going slow because it starts and stops. I am doing what I am suppose to do ,but as always in the beginning it goes fast and then stops. I get discourage when I look in the mirror sometimes because although my face ,arms and legs show the lost ,my stomach and body don't. I no the stomach takes time but at this time I feel i should have lost more in that area. I was at a size 4x before and now at a 3x, sometimes a 2x depending on the clothes. I don't plan on giving up , that is out of the question. It just gets me a little down because I have a cousin who was almost 600lbs before surgery and now a 1 1/2 yrs. later she is down to 200lbs. How can that be? I just tell myself some people lose faster than others. Looking at that is discouraging for me. I am so proud of her and my daughter in law who went from a size 28 to a size 6 in a matter of a few months. I am still proud of myself for what I did accomplish so far. It will just be a slow process for me is what I tell myself and keep moving forward. I will reach my goal and that is a fact. The reason I am writing this is to let others no that no matter how you look at things or others ,remember, every one is different. Just stay the course and do what you have to do for you. I no I will!!!

VSG

Sep 14, 2014

I had the VSG done on 9/11/14. The first day was kind of hectic. Couldn't breathe ,couldn't wake up, ended up in ICU after surgery because of breathing problems. I think it had a lot to do with my sleep apnea. Anyway that was a bad day for me. I did do a little walking down the hall and sit in a chair. I was in a lot of pain as expected. Next morning day 2 I was up early at 5 am feeling fine and ready to roll. I walked the hallway up and down twice by my self. I sat for a couple of hrs.  and layed down . Had pain med earlier the second day post op and haven't had any since i am home. Day 3, Feeling fine, drinking fluids, walking a lot. Not too much gas pain ,but some burping. The liquids are going slow but hope to start taking in more as i go. I haven't thrown up anything except day 1 in hospital after surgery. Day 4 today, was up early . Took my walk at 6 am this morning . Walked down the sidewalk more than a block this time. Feeling great! Still no problems .God is good. I am him to carry me thru this and he did. I say, just a little talk with Jesus makes everything alright. After doing the grape kool aid , water ,and popcicle, today I am having a protein drink and it is going down good. Thank you Lord!!  I have even had a little coffee this morning. I was at 288 the week before surgery and as of yesterday , I am down 18 lbs. 13 of it was from the liquid diet before surgery.
