Feeling confused

Apr 21, 2009

I've seen my surgeon, the psych Dr., and the nutritionist. I have been on the roller coaster of weight gain and weight loss and weight gain again. Prior to surgery, I have a lot of fears about the surgery, but I'm tired of being fat, struggle to breath, pain in my joints, etc. I also have sleep apnea and asthma. My surgeon said my BMI is 37. He said they usually don't do surgery unless I have comorbidities - which I do have. I met with the nutritionist and they want me to lose about 10 lbs or better. They have you go through a very strict regimen to be accepted for surgery. The nutritionist did tell me that if I could lose 10 lbs or more, I may not qualify for surgery anymore. If I gain more weight, they are concerned that I won't be able to handle post surgery expectations. I'm frustrated and don't know what to do. On April 2, I started making healthier choices with my foods and started taking a very good product that is even recommended for bariatric patients. I have lost 10 lbs since then. Like all diets I have tried in the past, I am afraid of putting the weight back on and then some. Since taking this product, I feel better then I have in a long time. I see the nutritionist again on May 5, 2009. I will continue with my Dr. visits and see what happens I guess. Any thoughts from any of you?
