Hey, welcome to my story.
I've been overweight all of my life. I was born a 10lb ham, and only went up from there. I also have chronic migraines that started when I was 7 years old and were daily until about 25/26 years old. They leveled off when I cut out chocolate, caffeine, soda, carbs, dairy, bell peppers, coffee, wine and beer. Up until 2010 I had severe anxiety and was on Xanax. Haven't taken or given a single eff since I saw a psych and he helped me not care about what people think anymore.
At my heaviest, in 2001, I was 532lbs. Right out of high school. I didn't care, and told myself I was happy, because nothing I did helped me lose weight for any length of time, then I'd pack on 30lbs in addition to what I lost.
When I lost my job, I had plenty of time to work out all day. It helped. I dropped my weight down to 398lbs. Then I got a job, and in a month 50lbs came back on. Of course it did. I wasn't walking all day anymore.
When my insurance kicked in, I asked around to family and people I know who have had the surgery and they recommended Dr Patrick Coates. Went to his seminar at Memorial Medical Center. Was not disappointed at all, he seemed like a genuinely awesome person.
I scheduled my consultation asap and started the process of preparing my mind and body to go through surgery. My starting weight is 452lbs.
It's been pretty rocky. I am not used to eating as much as this demands, and am frequently nauseous. I'm down to 436lbs now and, though my insurance set up a minor road block, I am still on my journey.
