OK, I don't want to bore you, so I'll try to give you the condensed version! I grew up always as the "chunky" kid. I was always the overweight girl with the "pretty face" ... the one that people always said "if she just didn't carry all that weight...she'd be really beautiful." You all know the girl. The year I finished high school, I was about 170. That summer, I got all the way up to 253! That was in 1998. Ever since then, I have just constantly gained weight....little by little. My highest weight was with my last pregnancy ... in February 2007 I got up to 313 pounds! I thought I'd die that die I saw the scale go OVER 300 pounds! But it did. I was really sick with that pregnancy....I had toxemia and GERD. I literally thought I was going to die the day I had my little Aiden. I ended up losing about 33 pounds after that...which is where I am now - 280 pounds! I started looking into WLS (weight loss surgery) in 2001, around the time Carnie Wilson had hers. I started seriously looking into it in 2005, when I actually left my old job just to start a new one so I could have health insurance so the surgery could be a reality for me. I originally looked into VBG (vertical banded gastroplasty) but after lots of research, I decided RNY (roux-en-y) is the procedure for me! I am 9 days away from my surgery! I can't wait!!! This is the start to a new life....one where my kids can really enjoy their Momma! I can't wait to be able to do things that so many people take for granted....to be able to ride a rollercoaster! I have never taken my 3 year old to Six Flags just because I know I can't fit on the rides! I know the quality of life will be so much better. I long to have energy! And I can't wait for the day I can walk into the clothing store and not have to look for the "fat chick" section....
