2 Weeks Post Op

Dec 27, 2009

First and foremost, I want to wish everyone a late Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday.

In one of my previous post I mentioned that I hadn't told my family about me having wls.  Sooooo, of course I went home for Christmas and of course everyone kept offering me food to eat and I politely had to keep saying "no thank you, I'm not hungry."  Eventually, I had to tell them that I had lap band surgery b/c they were starting to wonder why I was not eating.  Much to my surprise, everyone was very supportive.  I didn't get not one single negative reaction....thank God.  That made me feel sooooo good.  What a relief!!!!!

So Christmas day marked exactly 2 full weeks for me post op lap band surgery and I was finally able to start eating soft foods.  I was looking forward to eating mashed potatoes, lol.  I enjoyed finally being able to eat something other than jello, pudding, broth or yogurt.  I have to admit, I did nibble (and I do mean nibbled) on a few items that I was not supposed to have such as chocolate cake and a piece of chicken.  I tried my best to avoid eating it but I lost that battle really quick.  Even though I knew I wasn't supposed to have that food, I didn't beat myself up about it.  I guess I made it ok in my mind b/c I only had a small bite of it.  I have to make sure that I do not continue this habit in the future b/c I know that this can become a problem.  This is a process and I know that I will make mistakes along the way but this cannot be my excuse to purposefully do things that I know will not allow me to be successful on this journey.  I WILL GET THROUGH THIS ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!!!!!
