April 5th
Apr 04, 2009
Dr. G told me the last time I saw him that my insurance is pretty good with approvals. So, since I have sleep apnea, I'm thinking this will definitely help it along. Gosh, it could be soon that I have my surgery. I've been doing pretty well with my supervised diet. I am actually glad I had to do it now. It has really opened my eyes as far as nutrition is concerned. :o) I'll write a bit more after I have my EGD.
Christmas Eve, Wow!
Dec 23, 2008
Today is my little one's 7th birthday! I just can't believe how quickly the time has flown. I had always expected to have another one when he was about 3, but sadly since gaining so much weight it caused me to have PCOS. Plus I just didn't want to try for a pregnancy being so heavy and miserable.
Let me see. Oh, I rescheduled my sleep study from the 17th to January 13th because I thought the weather was going to get bad and I'd be stranded up there. Turns out, I could have had it anyway. Oh well.
Then, my insurance is changing and the insurance I had was going to be so easy as far as the things they wanted. Now, I will have to undergo a 3-month supervised diet. Oh well, maybe this is good. I just wanted to have it done as quickly as possible. I have been overweight my entire life and I just want to feel good and have lots of energy and be comfortable.
Nothing really to report so far, except when I had seen Dr. Gornichec on 12th, I had gained 9 pounds. Of course, my menstrual cycle is acting up again, I am thinking because of the weight gain. I haven't had my period since October, and I know I'm not pregnant. So, not sure if some of the weight gain could be due to that or not.
Anyway, nothing new to report. I will add more later.

First consult appointment with Dr. G.
Dec 12, 2008
I am looking forward to the surgery, but now if the weather will just hold out until I do the support group and my sleep study this coming week. I really do hope it doesn't get bad :(
Wow, December 5!!!
Dec 05, 2008
Anyway, I already had my lab test results read to me. I am a little alarmed that my CRP (C-reactive protein) is elevated at 17, which usually this is an inflammatory process which causes a high reading for that. But, I guess I won't know unless they want me to do further testing. My consult with Dr. Gornichec is Tuesday, so may be he will say something about that then. Echo cardiogram was normal. EKG was normal. I do have high cholesterol though. I already suspected that from the testing that I had in February. So, looks like mostly all clear on that standpoint.
Anyway, back to the psych. I passed with flying colors, so all is wonderful in that department. This is just so exciting and scary all at the same time. I will be going to the support group meeting at Integris in the morning. I just hope I don't over sleep. Working third shift, getting off at 6 and being at the support group meeting at 10 is going to be a killer. :) Anyway, what's a little pain for a short time when compared to a lifetime of laughs and feeling so much better about myself and being so much more healthy?
Stay tuned for my December 9th update :)
Testing
Nov 25, 2008
Today, 11/25/2008, was my date to have all of my lab testing, which included blood, EKG, echocardiogram, chest x-ray, and stress testing. All of this was completed and none of it was as bad as I had anticipated.
I am just so excited. It seems once I went to the seminar in September and FINALLY was able to make the third appointment I had made with the coordinator, things are really going quickly. My next post will be on December 5th after the psych eval. The date I am really anticipating is December 9th, which will be with Dr. Gornichec himself. I am nervous but excited for that one.
I feel this board is helping me so much in preparation with everything else to come.
Thanks for reading!! Stay tuned for my next blog.
Visit with Coordinator
Nov 22, 2008
The visit with Kim went great! They are so very, very nice in that office. It seems they have started some new things in the past month or so at their office, which makes me think I came into all of this at just the right time. I was really stressed out thinking about how much money I was going to have to come up with for the testing and things even though I do have insurance. They do most of the testing in their office now. I do have to go to patient registration, but then straight up to their office on Tuesday morning. Then, I will be undergoing the stress test, labs, EKG, echocardiogram, PFTs, and I think that is all. But, I will only have to pay my 10.00 copay for that. Yipee!! :) Now, I have no idea how much my copay will be for the psych test. A bit nervous about that one.
They also have a binder they give you, which she said they just started about a month ago. It has all kinds of info in it. It has copies of all the papers that were signed. It tells about postop, preop and during the hospital stay, labs, postop diet, preop diet. It's a VERY thick binder, which I am to bring each time I have a visit with Dr. Gornichec.
Anyway, that's about all I have to report right now. But, I will be logging more as more things are done. My appointment with Dr. Gornichec is December 9th. My sleep study is set for December 17th.
Thanks for reading!! :)
First appointment with Bariatric coordinator
Nov 20, 2008
Well, I'm pretty excited. I just finished up work and will be waking my son up for school in about an hour. I am getting ready to take a shower and get ready. My appointment is at 10 a.m. this morning, but we are going to go early just so we are sure where it is. I have my 300.00 ready to give to the coordinator. I am wondering how much money I will have to come up with though to get all the testing done. It's sort of scary thinking about paying all this money and not even know if my insurance will approve it for sure yet.
I just pray that everything goes as planned and I will get the surgery.
